On the V222/22, the ID numbers(holes) are located on the starboard side stringer, under the cockpit. You should be able to see the numbers from the dinette; they're not very far back at all on the stringer.

Chock is right - but mine are a ways back there. I didn't get a good pic of it at all.

Tucked down next to my foam... just holes drilled in the stringer, in the shape of numbers...

Good luck.

You might want to remove the pressure on that yellow strap and be sure that the keel is resting on the trailer and not the winch to avoid hull damage.

The strap is taut, but not tight, at the moment, and yes, the keel is on the trailer, not suspended. Thanks for pointing it out, though.

I was able to get on my boat today to look at the boom and blocks, and it doesn't look quite as loose as yours. I took a picture for reference...Copy of DSC07784.jpg

That is exactly what I would have expected - enough room so that the block tang can rotate freely, but without excessive play in the system. Time to drill rivets, I guess.

I have a rivet gun. Alexandria is a bit of a drive but if you ever plan a sail at Smith Mountain Lake, I could put the rivet gun in my boat and meet you. Or you could put a through bolt, or machine screws.

BTW, SML has an xlnt camp ground and camping site 31 has a finger of water that buts up to the back side of the camp site. Been there with my boat. Would make a great place for a scout trip.

Pink 3" foam boards at Home Depot.:)
Yeah. Whatever kinda foam those boards are.:laugh::laugh:

(Inside joke recalling an old thread. :) )

Seriously though, the pink boards will work really well as floatation.

On another point, the ID numbers: on my '78 they are on a metal strip attached to the transom. The earlier boats didn't have that?

VBR,

Pat

I have a pop riveter, but I think it's a little undersized for this job. I don't have a problem using screws, I'll just blue locktite them into place to prevent any backing out too easily.

I'll keep that lake in mind if we choose to head that way with the boat. Bit of a drive, with the river right here, but if we tire of the Potomac, it's high on my list.

I'm not glad you have a boom issue but I'm glad it came up,. I never thought to look at mine. Oh well it's about time to take it off the roof and look at it.
It will be a good excuse to take a break from printing all of these charts.

Scored a 18# Danforth for twenty bucks today. Clean, no rust, smooth movement.

Deal of the year, I say.

And tomorrow I go to pick up an outboard. 9.9hp Johnson, good running condition, $400. More than I paid for the boat.

I find that slightly amusing.

Your doing good

Considering what you paid for the boat and anchor I'd say your doing pretty good over all.

That's been the idea - cheap, but functional. It's not like I'm setting up for liveaboard, or luxury cruising - this thing is the vw camper of boats, and I intend to use it as such.

lol

I grew up with an old westie, that was used for everything from hauling scouts, family camping, taking paper to the recycling, fishing trips, hauling wood, and long road trips. I see the V22 as a similar platform for the water - basic interior, multi-use friendly, nothing fancy but everything functional.

I hope that's not offensive to anyone... ;)

Does anyone have a source for Duraglas on the east coast, preferably in the DC/Baltimore area? I really don't want to pay $30 for hazmat shipping from the west coast if I can avoid it, but my searching is coming up blank for a local source... and West does not carry it. They seem to have the monopoly on marine supply around here, too.
