Thanks @Ward H! I see it now... the 25 is masthead rig, with straight spreaders. My little 192 is fractional with swept spreaders. Therefore, it's totally understandable how your slightly overlapping jib gets messed in the spreaders, but mine doesn't. If I were to move to a 135% genoa, I, too, would have to start sheeting outside the spreaders.

John,
I thought all O'day 25s have gas can lockers under one of the cockpit seats. This photo shows where mine is located. Maybe yours being a little older does not have one?
.
Ward, the gas tank locker became standard on the O'DAY 25 starting in 1979, same time that the forward anchor locker was added. O'DAY must have upgraded to a new set of deck molds at that time adding those features. 1975-78 models do not have these 2 features.

The lack of an anchor locker bugs me more the the lack of a fuel locker.

Did about 2 hours of cleaning today. My son took care of the cabin while I cleaned under the cockpit. Everything looked good, I think I found an anchor line bag. It is blue and the line exits the bottom, line is yellow poly type.

That sounds more like a throw bag for someone overboard or kayaking rapids. Poly not good for anchoring.

My next project, issues, fuel, I ran out. Fix it, own the problem and fix it... marine

Hey Oliver, it is pretty cool knowing you can live on this boat year round to me. Sometimes your english is a challenge to understand, but entertaining.

Also love that red color, on other forums I do like having a model specific thread so maybe this can be that for everyone?

Advise only one person live a board, works very well, maybe a guest once in awhile, put them in bow. I sleep in salon across from this picture. Sorry for my rant, I asked my boat why she almost got me killed like 4 times in 3 years and who did she make mad and she just laughed at me, grin.

So spent a few hours at her today, found a pile of lines including the anchor line. Hauled out another bucket of trash, should be good now that I've opened everything and organzied and cleaned.

Good news bilge is dry and still no leaks from deck penetrations.

Bucket of trash. The picture was the second truck load from my current project boat an S2.

Of the 30 years I spent in Alabama I never sailed on Lake Guntersville. I've sailed Wheeler, Wilson, Pickwick, Smith and most lakes on the Coosa back in the 70s and early 80s. Now that I think about it Guntersville has the largest wide water of all of them. Humm... but it was hard to drag me out of sailing in Mobile where I lived in those days. If I ever decide to visit my family in AL maybe I'll bring a boat.

Last weekend spent cleaning the area under the cockpit was an amazing mess and crap.

Pretty happy with her now so plan to sail more and worry less about some of the items on my list.

So those without a Chain locker on their O'Day, yes they came like this initially, what do I attach the bitter end of my new found anchor line to? I have the option of the 2 bow cleats and the eye bolt on the bow for attachment to a trailer.

Add 20-30 feet of poly line to the bitter end of the anchor rode. Bolt a metal plate to the bolt ends of the u bolt inside the anchor locker. This is the u bolt used to trailer/launch/retrieve the boat. Attach the poly line to the metal plate. The poly line will tell you when the end of the anchor rode is near. If you have to cut the rode loose for some reason the poly line will float and you will have a chance of finding your rode and anchor.

With no chain locker how are you going to store your line? My spare anchor rode is in a bag with the bitter end coming out through a grommet in the bottom of the bag with an eye splice. I attach this to a cleat, fore or aft, attach the shackle to the anchor, then pay the rode out of the bag. The advantage to this is I never lose the bag. The bag has a small pocket on the side with zip ties for temporary shackle seizing.
