I've never seen a backstay adjuster on any other H23, that looks like it will make the backstay shorter than factory. Does the mast have that bend when all the stays are loose? I have found on mine that if I tighten the side stays too much first, due to the spreaders being swept back, it pulls the mast backwards and then, no amount of tightening/loosing the fore/backstay will fix the rake.

We think my mast may have been cut by ¾ to 1 inch. Ive order new rigging and I'm going to try to shim the mast . Thanks

Love to hear the backstory on that deal. Some PO in the past must have been a bit economical with the truth regarding that.

Yep, and the most recent PO says he didnt know anything about it and she sailed fine. Then again, he didn't have a true mainsheet rigged either, so he may have not really known.

Did he know that those flat white things go up when you "sail", and you don't use just the thing that you put gas into?

Think I've found remenants of the original damage, but I've also found where the forward part of the mast isn't sitting on the Tabernacle. There's a gap. This thing it's becoming a bigger pain.

You likely have to drop your mast and inspect that area and see what's under it. There was another post sort of like yours (mast could not tilt to vertical, so owner could not attach the baby stay poles on a larger boat) and it turned out the newly purchased aluminum cast tabernacle was not quite the same configuration. He had to remove a few nubs on it to get it to work with his extrusion. You don't have that same model, but there may be something under there you have to fix to let it get fully vertical.

Yeah, when I take everything down, I'm going to look at all angles. See if they cut the mast square, etc. I'm taking a day off in 2 weeks to see if I can get her back in spec.
