As an experienced boat owner my advice to any new boat owner has been "the best that you can hope for, is that you get what you paid for...". In this case, there seems little hope at all...
I don't know what that means but it sounds really deep. ;)

You said the aft mast was damaged so that would be the mainmast correct? Any photos of the damage? Inquiring minds want to know!
I am assuming that it is a gaff rigged schooner based on the Rover website. When you say it has all of the sails, what does that work out to? With a schooner there are so many options especially a gaffer.

So here is a weird issue I need help with.....
Maybe someone can. help. I need to get to land for a couple hrs to get supplies and groceries. Then need a ride back. Any ideas? I've been out here since Friday. I'd like to get some good food lol.

I have plenty of food and water but need prop and and to. Other supplies and inflatable is junk. I've been trying to fins a cheap canoe or something but no luck

Congrats on the boat acquisition! Looks like good bones and a lot of stuff to work with. Should be a great project. Looks like a quick cleanup and repeat of the original mast assembly should get your mast issue squared away. Note to self: stay away from bridges...

The hot meal aboard had to be a great milestone (mentally). Just built a new galley, so I'm looking forward to that milestone myself! I'm a bit curious that you're talking inverters, solar, and wind generator when you don't have a dinghy, though. Could you elaborate on how you are prioritizing? I was with you through getting it running and getting out of the dock fee situation. But lost you when you were stranded but considering inverter, solar and wind as the next priorities. Maybe I misunderstood?

Anyway, cool boat. Thanks for sharing the progress pics! Can't wait to see what's next.

Talked to the builder again today. Insert sleeve at least 18inch on each end. So 36inch total. Weld in place. Cut the break clean and straight. Insert mast. Re weld into place. Re rig and re line. Add sails

I am surprised that they are not having you put screws through the mast and into the sleeve. All really tall masts have a screwed together sleave up the mast because they are too long to ship otherwise. screwed mast splice

That is what I intend to do. Saw it in a YouTube video. I intend to do so to both halves.

My understanding is that most masts use grade 6061-T6 aluminum. This grade can be welded but that "T6" at the end means that the aluminum has a heat treatment process done to it after it has been extruded. When you weld it, the heat treatment is removed (annealed) for a short distance from the weld in both directions. This means that the metal will not have the same springiness. When it is loaded, it will stretch and not spring back to the original place. Think if a paper clip versus a coil spring.
Welding is best done at points of support and will not be as stiff as the unwielded section. That is why the sleeve is needed inside the tube. And yes, I am a structural engineer.
