Aerowin

We named our Catalina 30 Aerowin. It reflects the air and the wind for speed and grace, and is based on the Lord of the Rings character Arwen.

Paul's Fault

Looking for a new name for our recently purchased Watkins 27. I like the current name "Praying for Mariah" (PFM for short), but my wife, the Admiral, is pushing for and getting lots of support for "Paul's Fault". Of course when anything goes awry a chorus exclaimes "Paul's Fault". Hence the new name.

Three Sheets

Named the Boat "Three Sheets" after a few Margarita's. (2 jibs, 1 main). Named the Dinghy "To the Wind".

Come Monday

I'm a Jimmy Buffet fan, and have Mondays off in the summer with my wife. Hence, Monday's are sailing days. Like Jimmy says, "Come Monday, it'll be alright..." Randy

Assignment

A sailing friend's boat was called "Assignment". When I asked him why he had chosen this name he explained that he was a newspaper journalist. He loved sailing however and explained to his boss that he was on "Assignment" every time he wasn't in the office.

Finisterra

My boat was named by the previous owners and I think it is great. Finisterra - Lands End. She has been blessed twice, once during the "Blessing of the Fleet" sponsored by our yacht club and a special ceremony with friends, champagne and a toast to Neptune.

Feelin' Knotty

Our last boat of seven years was a Gloucester 22 we called 4Play. We just Launched our new to us 1991 Hunter 27 with the name Feelin' Knotty. I know I'll live up to the name, I just hope the boat does.

Summer Romance/Whole Bunch

What is a boat but a good Summer Romance. This was our ODay 27. Next was Whole Bunch. When we were buying our new boat we had a list on the fridge and Whole Bunch was put on it. It has a lot of meaning for my wife, when our kids were growing up she would always ask how much she loved them and they would answer was a Whole Bunch, so one day someone asked if we realy enjoyed boating and it just seamed fitting to name the boat Whole Bunch

A Meeting

One resourceful work shirker who keeps a boat at the local marina named his boat "A MEETING." If you try to contact him he is often said to be in a meeting.

THIS SIDE UP

We named her "THIS SIDE UP" (with a wide arrow on each side of the name pointing upwards - just like an appliance carton!) after our previous boat sunk...we were getting so much ribbing from our yacht club members that the name was a pre-emptive strike!

Aft Backwards

This being our first sailboat, we figured "Aft Backwards" (a play on words of ass backwards) would pretty much describe our first ventures out learning how to sail. Wish us luck on our first sailboat!

This is a name that I came up with for a friend. He was quite the ladies man. I told him, if asked, he could always tell the ladies "I named the boat "after you" baby".
