Simma Down!

We wanted a boat name that reflected our need to relax during the weekends..remember the Saturday Night Live skit with Terry Oteri, where she plays a snippy fast food restaurant cashier and she tells the customer to simma dahn nah! (simmer down now!) Being SNL fans we decided to name our boat just that.

Final Fling

When I bought my boat, my some what unhappy wife said "I hope this is your Final Fling." Now I have to say yes it is. But to say that would mean I could never have another fling. But I could say yes it is if I named the boat Final Fling and I could still have another fling down the line...Smart or what?

"Pleiades", The Seven Sisters who gaurd the gate..

Pleiades was named by my Dad, who gave her to me on 1/1/03. He died on 1/18/03. He had been a medical researcher, and hoped he could answer the Pleiades questions ALL correctly, as ferverently desired not to get stuck in a vengeful "white mouse heaven." He was a great sailor with an odd sense of humor. I will retain the name in his honor. He was a WWII Royal Navy Vetran, my hero, and my friend. He taught me to be a man, and a sailor. I called my first sailboat "Comfortably Numb", to reflect my favorite Pink Floyd song and my usual state of mind after a day of sailing, but my current boat is called "Good Vices", from the line in "Son of a son of a Sailor" (...and the rum is for all your good vices!) Tom Madura

Quiet Flight

We bought the boat after my favorite grandmother died - she took a quiet flight to heaven - seemed appropriate. Perfect name for our 356 - towing our dinghy is great - she is "Soft Landing" - good because I am a financial planner and it is what we were all hoping for in the market about 2 years ago!

Jus Limin'

My wife and I ran across a little road side bar on Tortola, BVI, called Jus Limin' that sparked our curiosity. So, we asked the cab driver what it meant and he said "Oh mon, it means jus kickin' back an taken it easy (big laughs here)! Since we were lookin for a name for our new to us boat, it seemed to be a natural fit. S/V Capri 26

am a salesman and our boat is named "Sails Call". If I have some clients on our boat on a weekday and my boss calls to see where I am, and I say I'm on a "Sails Call"......am I lying????

We have a winner!

The judges deliberated long and hard on this. There were so many great names the evaluation stretched on for several days. The list of finalists and runners-up included such popular names as Heard the Call, Sails Call, AFTICA, BlewByU, ExFed, and a number of others.... but our winner is, by unanimous decision: The dinghy 'Row vs. Wade' For this nomination Patricia Polk of Annapolis, MD (Hunter 460, Liberty) will receive a pair of custom embroidered polo shirts from our chandlery. Tax Relief

I am a CPA, so sail is relief from tax work. Also, I get to deduct the interest paid, so more tax relief.
