BREAKING NEWS: EVERETT, WA
Thursday, June 29, 2023 12:15pm LOCAL NEWS. EVERETT
Reports of loud noises and splash wave have been reported in the area of the Port. Some have said there was a varoom sound that resembled a diesel engine revving. Then Whoop whoop whoopee shouting which followed a splash that washed across the marina. The police reported they were investigating but stated it is unlikely there will be much left to discover. We will report all developments as we hear more.
It was back on 19 March, 2022 while I was prepping to cruise around Vancouver Island that this adventure began. Now the engine and transmission have been removed from the boat, rebuilt, reinstalled and the magic smoke has been returned to SV Hadley.
The engine started, the transmission responded smoothly, the new prop shaft, Dripless shaft seal and cutlass bearing all performed as promised. Hadley showed that she is still a bit cranky. When I bought the boat in 2015 she ran a bit hot. I worked over the cooling system and her temperature slipped nicely into the normal range. Today she again ran hot on her maiden voyage.
We will need to check out the raw water pump as it was leaking... There are several minor issues now listed on my before cruising punch list.
I'll be heading home for a few days. Mid July I'll be back to work the punch list, clean up after the work project. Then I can dress her with sails and do some sea trials in the Sound.
Oh a smooth running engine is a thing of beauty.
