Been awfully quiet on this thread lately with nary a hint of a vrooom. Any news to report? Does the mechanic have any hair left? How about you, John?

Well for the past several weeks I have been in a not going forward/not going backward situation. Kind of like the tides.

We spoke today and he has reassembled the engine. The injectors will be going into the engine this weekend. I told him to also add some of that magic smoke which escaped when the engine was in pieces.

My last post I mentioned the condensation/water that was found when the engine cylinder pressures were discovered low. He removed the pistons and sleeves, replacing them with new. The rings on two of the pistons were rusted in their slots. Reason there was no cylinder pressure.

By this time next week I have crossed my fingers in hopes of the Varoom return and a date to get the engine back in the boat where it belongs. Of course that would be a milestone, yet there will still be the installing of all the electrical and hoses. An of course alignment, testing etc before I can splash and get her back to the slip under her own power.

Think good thoughts.

Unfortunately, no!

My water pump bearing seized two weeks ago, just as I was mostly in my slip after a lovely day sail. Took the boatyard until today to locate the part for my 40-yr-old engine. It's going to take another two weeks to get the new pump shipped in . . . sigh . . .

Terry thanks but you might want to be careful with that IPA stuff.

I was advised that IPA is Cyrillic code for “We’ll Snip You”.
I was told if your hear that “Pull up you pants and run like your life depends on it”.
At least I think that was what was said.

I feel better safe than sorry

No elixir, however, as you get older you become invisible. Soon enough no one will notice your thinning hair, and if you have matured along with your age, you won't notice either.

It will start this time. I know it will. I'll be ready with two bourbons, one for John and my own. Of course being on the other coast I'll probably drink John's before he gets here.

The best stuff should never be wasted... If I am not there you have my blessing.

One day Claude we will enjoy a G&T together. Monday may be too soon.

What say a Zoom Cocktail if there is a hint of Varoom.

You have the patience of Jobe, John. I'd have lost it long ago, been arrested, convicted, and sitting in prison by now. :yikes:

I've been following this thread mostly because it sounds like my luck. Today, my engine still does so passing along good vibrations that you get deep rumbling on Monday.
