When I get a new phone, I deposited the last one in the River last Sunday, the leaves will be turning. The boat stays in the water til end of October so I should catch the leaves at peak in the lower Hudson.

The marina in Sesimbra, Portugal today, viewed from above the town at the 900 year old castle. At the extreme left edge (partially cut off) is a catamaran.

It's a nice little protected harbor, thanks to the breakwater:

Cruised to Rockland Maine from Rockport Maine this afternoon, about 3 NM. It was easy.

Now that fishing and ferry traffic has ended for the night, you could hear a pin splash out here in the outer harbor.

I had a nice text from home. “ I hope you’re warm? “

I said I was managing the cold. But I didn’t send this pic I took just now. That would be mean.

Tom, I can appreciate a fellow who gets back to basic sailing and the way you "rough it".

Thanks, Will. Tonight, I think it is finally safe to leave the hatch screens, stowed.

I know it's not Wednesday, but I didn't get to go until Friday. Nice day on the bay on my buddy's P19.

Great wind, no rain. This was one of the four boats we saw all day long.

In another thread there was a reference to Clontarf Ireland (just east of Dublin). There is a nice sized group of sailboats on moorings in the harbor, and on the few days we were there in June (around the solstice) a lot of them got used in the late afternoon into the evening. It helps when it stays light outside until almost 11 pm.

There is a guy ferrying folks from the ramp at a nearby parking lot to the various boats, I assume for a fee. You can see his skiff just behind the double marker, returning from putting the crew on the red-hulled boat:

As the three boats on the left of the previous picture were still rigging up, this guy comes sailing back into the mooring field, finished for the day:

Although it has some large commercial boats, it is a lovely little harbor:

I know it is Saturday and the technically this is sailing in the sky's not the ocean. So I am ready to receive the admonition of any purists. It is just a real unusual image to experience. 500 balloons rising out of the valley at daybreak, to float across the sky's of Albuquerque NM. I wish I had the @TomY skills to capture what I was seeing. You’ll have to let your imagination fill in the missing links...

We are in Coimbra, Portugal today. Portugal is of course a long-time seafaring nation - from the Age of DIscovery, Vasco da Gama, etc., right on up to the present day, as fish and seafood are a huge part of everyday life here.

The Santa Cruz Monastery (Igreja de Santa Cruz) is a national monument here, and houses the tombs of the first two Portuguese kings. In the upper choir loft, there is a series of gilded carved wooden panels portraying the history of the country, and I especially liked these two panels:

The entire series was carved in the early 1500's.

Sunset in Zadar, Croatia last Sunday:

I now understand why there are a lot of sailors that cruise the Adriatic. The coast of Croatia is beautiful. This looked to be about a 60-footer in the harbor at Cavtat, just south of Dubrovnik:

This motorsailor was around the corner:

And alongside the village dock was the private yacht Casablanca:

Game of Thrones put Dubrovnik on the map:

It has a host of other attributes:

Including the requisite yellow submarine:
