Lighthouses and Boats are designed to address the magnificent power of water.
Sometimes lighthouses do it better.

We are in Malta, and there are a ton of sailboats here. From the little (this was a 4-boat Laser regatta):

To the large:

I don't think I've ever been in a place with a larger number of sailboats larger than 70 feet. And lots of boats that are just plain beautiful.

And the scenery in general is not too bad:

Tom sorry to refer to such an old post but is that your dinghy? If yes, is it a Puffin? And finally if yes to both do you like it? I'm looking at one next week.
Not my dinghy and I don't believe that's a Puffin, but very similar. The dinghy in the pic looks like a 10'er which makes a wonderful rowing dinghy if you'll be towing it. Which Puffin are you looking at?

I’m looking at the 860. Looks like a good balance of size for us. We don’t need it all the time (we’re in a slip) so it will only tow along every now and then (certain spots we like have lots of moorings to use but not always a launch or dinghy to borrow). Will typically be me shuttling 1 adult and a kid or two around. I prefer a dinghy I can row (pleasant exercise, no noise or environmental pollution, no dealing with an outboard, tanks of gas etc).

Also my 97 year old grandmother who taught me how to sail as a small child will call me soft and lazy if own a dinghy with an outboard while I’m still of able body :)

Seem like a good choice?

Totally! The Puffin dinghy's are very popular around my neighborhood. They row and tow well and I rarely see an outboard on one (a good sign). Err on the long side for your oars, you'll be glad you did.

Rowing is a healthy addiction.

Indeed!

I had an outboard for my dingy, but only used it twice. I'm now putting it up for sale with another small sailboat I have which it is perfect for. After rowing my Trinka, I'll never go back. I am 100% addicted!

I bought one of the last Trinkas manufactured, it's an 8 footer. I do wonder if I should have gotten the 10 footer but the 8 footer is sized right for my boat. I would suggest for you to get the 10 footer if that is a good size for everything else you need. Otherwise, the 8 footer is great. Good for two people and some gear, three people are possible but not with a lot of chop. I have made it with three adults and several tool bags in moderate chop and we made it to shore, but had to dry out all the tools. I would not recommend that loading...

A couple of peapod I took a picture of in Camden harbor this last summer. Peapods are nice rowing boats. I wouldn't tow one without a good sturdy and dry spray cover, though. Maybe add a little secured ballast in the bottom too.

Wednesday IS photo-day. The oddest sailboat I shot in 2019 was surely this one. Fairly bland from the side it didn't draw my lens. But when it had passed I turned and looked and took this shot.

I had no idea what it was and had no luck finding it on the web. Someone on another forum recognized it as a Shannon 53 HPS, High Performance Sailboat. What do you think?

Except for the lack of outdoor living space, she looks like a comfortable cruiser.

Comfortable for sure with a 17'6" beam. The performance is in the motoring. It has dual diesels of over 100 hp each so top speed should be impressive (over 12 knots). On the sailing, it looks a little under powered in this vid, like motorsailers generally are.
