There was a huge response to the question of your SBO name, and the question was posed; where does your boat name come from?
Ok, I'll start.

We acquired "Nothing Like This" 4 years ago from the second owner in Colorado, a 1996 Catalina 270le. We kicked around a few names, had come close but not quite on a couple, and then there was a line in a song that the Admiral liked, and she suggested it. The name really does mean what it says, there are a lot of boats on the lake up here in sunny Alberta for the 26-1/4 days we get of summer, but there really is "Nothing Like This" in these parts.

Cheers
Gary

Breezin' Up

The name is a slight variation of the title of a painting, Breezing Up, by Winslow Homer, one of my wife's favorite artists.

Ours is Sea Aye. The admirals initials are C. I. So named after her. Our last boat was Millie Rose after our mothers. We thought we would use the same name but for our current boat but we felt like it would be naming our children all the same name. Each boat has its personality for sure. Meriachee where do you sail in Edmonton? I work in Cold Lake and Fort Mac and live in Ontario.

Boat Name

When we purchased Belle-Vie from the PO in 2002 we decided we liked the name and left it as is. French/Canadian translation according to the French/Canadian family...Good Life. Apropos, wouldn't you say?

Nu Liberte'

Nu = naked, unencumbered... origin french

Liberte'= freedom, unrestrained, origin french....

its an ideal state of mind, an ideal state of being... an ideal way of being able to exist. complete freedom without reservation or question. there can be a few different interpretations... all of which fit our desires perfectly. now if only we could achieve it:D

We are on Wabamun. There's 3 clubs and one marina. Certainly not the biggest puddle in the world, but surprisingly active. Give us a buss if you're around !

Alchemie

We're both chemists (met in college). And just like the old alchemists we turned gold (our money) into lead (a keel). Oh, wait, we did that backwards didn't we? The name worked from both of us Allan Chemist Debbie

We just got new graphics this year designed by my wife to include the most recent family member (and crew), Marley.

Hey,

My current boat is Deep Blue C. She's a C&C 110 with a deep keel and a deep blue hull.

Previous boat was an O'day 35 named Day To Remember

Before that, my first 'big boat' was the Noble Prize (sort of a take off on my last name -Lenoble),

I'm a librarian by trade so there were many occupation related suggestions made by friends; Bookin', Dewey Sail?, Sea Reference, Page, Overdue...but after considering it, I decided not to have a boat that reminded me of work.

I would not sail if it weren't for my late father in law, who raced his Flying Scot and named it after his daughter (my wife). We could think of no better way to honor him than by taking his name with us whenever we sailed, and thus we call our boat the Billie Rae.

I heard that my boat was originally purchased by a group of three sailors, but the name might also be a reference to her hull number 333 as her name is Triple-play. As a lifelong Red Sox fan the baseball reference worked for me.

L.L.attitudes II
L.L. Stands for "Lake Lauren" my wife's nickname. The attitudes part is literally that.

The combination has a connotation of latitude attitude, as in having a mindset one would expect to have leisurely hopping around the islands.

II points to the fact out old C22 was the first L.L.attitudes

Takara is Japanese and means "treasure, wealth, valuable". I think it was named by the previous-previous owner. I liked the name and kept it on the boat.

Halcyon.
Comes down from Greek mythology.

Standard tragic Greek mythology stuff but a happy conclusion.

Modern definitions include:

1.calm;*peaceful;*tranquil:
halcyon*weather.

2. rich;*wealthy;*prosperous:
halcyon*times*of*peace.

3. happy;*joyful;*carefree:
halcyon*days*of*youth.
