Take some time
Kevin, having read all of the responses, I believe you're trying to rush into a purchase too fast with too little knowledge. Absent a lot of luck, the result will be unhappiness. Put your money in a short term investment, then do your research. There is only one way to know if a boat is right for you. Get out on it - as previously noted, you'll know the boat that's right for you in just a few minutes. The rest of them, enjoy and learn. Sail on as many other boats as possible - crew for people, charter, TAKE SAILING CLASSES! Consider haunting marinas (owers love to talk about their boats and may offer rides) and boat sales lots - any intelligent salesperson knows that talking with prospective buyers is an investment of time that can pay off in a sale down the road.
Your posts show that while you're interested in sailing, you don't currently know enough to ensure a good decision when you finally buy a boat. Understanding the terms furling headsail or mainsail is similar to understanding what power steering or A/C is on a car. It affects your evaluation of the value of the boat or car. I think everyone applauds your interest is sailing, but worries that you're rushing in a way that may sour you on the sport. Read, look, talk with people and sail with others. It'll make a better choice and less anxiety.
Good luck and fair winds.
