Wednesday is Photo Day 2025

Here is an image of a three-masted boat I discovered tied up along the docks of Roche Harbor. No one was aboard so that I couldn’t get any stories about her.

When I posted this boat image that caught my eye during my April cruise to Roche Harbor, San Juan Island, it was just an interesting image.

Now for the rest of the story.

While reading email this morning I found an article about this boat. She is named ALCA I. A 63 foot Scooner motor sailor designed by George Buehler

Here are two links that tell more of her story. She is an intriguing find.

Downhill to the boat launch, watching the masthead. With the centerboard up, the boat drafted 6 inches so who cares if you find a shallow spot?
