When I posted this boat image that caught my eye during my April cruise to Roche Harbor, San Juan Island, it was just an interesting image.
Now for the rest of the story.
While reading email this morning I found an article about this boat. She is named ALCA I. A 63 foot Scooner motor sailor designed by George Buehler

seeing this little guy out a few weeks ago here in S,W. Oregon just made me smile.
Our beautiful new deeper water marina just after completion a year ago on Howard Prairie Reservoir. note old marina photo left which has since been totally removed. we now have full season mooring even in most low water years. yayyyy

Evening race photos from a couple weeks ago. Light wind but we got a race in.
At anchor in the Thimble Islands. I usually don’t recommend The Thimbles, it’s exposed to the prevailing SW winds and very rocky, with lots of debris and cables on the bottom. But we had extremely light N winds and it being an off-season weekday we had the place to ourselves.

The downwind run back to Haleiwa after spending a wonderful day anchored in Waimea Bay.
Something a little different, but also something you can only see when you go exploring someplace you don’t usually bother going. This derelict tug sits on the eastern bank of the Susquehanna near Perryville MD. I think it’s an interesting reminder of the larger industrial and transportation role the river played in the past. I saw it when sailing around in my Dyer Dhow, maybe built around the same time.
