Upgrading Raymarine e80--do I have STng or ST? Tips?

Hello, I have a 2008 Beneteau 40 with Raymarine 80 chartplotter and instruments. I am planning an upgrade of the chartplotter and looking for advice.

I am trying to figure out if I have SeaTalk or SeaTalk ng?
Is SeaTalk ng comparable with NMEA 2000?
Can I keep my current transducers if I switch to B&G or Garmin?
Does anybody have opinions on the different systems out there? Manufacturers?

Thanks
Tm

SeaTalk (ST)
ST1: circular connectors with 3 wires
ST2: crescent connectors with 3 wires
STng (next gen): circular connectors with backbone network topography. More than 3 wires, superset of NMEA 2000 sentences
SThs (highspeed): waterproof RJ45 connectors (internet cables) superset of NMEA 2000 sentences (uses the same communications protocals as NMEA 2000 with a propriatary mechanical connector. Uses a plug converter to interface with NMEA 2000 items.
SThs is compatable with NMEA 2000 IF you use the special SeaTalk to NMEA 2000 converter (IP addressing to NMEA addressing)

Thanks. When my chartplotter boots it says SeaTalk ng on screen but I don't assume it is true to that label. So STng is NMEA 2000 and then I need to figure out the right connectors?
