Lats & Atts - I vote for Jodya

We were at the Atlantic City show last January and I was trying on some clothes. Jodya had me drop my shorts right there in the booth and try them on and didn't even laugh, though Bob did. A couple of real give a shits! Jim S/V Java

Latitude 38

I get a Latitude 38 every month! Definitely the best in the west. I will confess to having a couple of "Latitudes and Attitudes" laying around, but I look forward to my Latitude 38's every month. Have to throw in with Neil and Bob:):)

Latts & Atts

Latts & Atts not only has interesting articles, it has a tremendous sense of humor. And having met Bob Bitchin and Jody, there's no doubt that we could fit right in with L & A's sailing types. Some magazines are downright fantasy and others are too exclusive in their readership interests. The great thing is how we have adopted the L & A motto that "The difference between an ordeal and an adventure is ATTITUDE." Truer words never spoken!

Differnet strokes...

For different needs... I enjoy Lats & Atts (only one "T" in Latitudes people:) ) for the life style of it, but really don't find much useful info for me...I do love Bob & Jody's attitude in general and seem to hang with the kind of sailors who read this mag...those who like to have fun and aren't stuffy about it all......Practical Sailor, Ocean Navigator and Latitude 38 all supply more info to my liking.... including often times detailed information on places I am setting for... I am currently sailing in Mexico and Lat 38's "changes in Latitude" section is very helpful in that the info comes from people who are currently at that spot...people who are in a place I am heading to often have saved me head aches!

Lats & Atts, nothing comes close

All other sailing mags are from the wrong coast

Yesir....

I have to agree with John Siver on the Spontaneous Rigmeister being the ultimate mag!

Yacht Club Newsletters

My vote goes to surfing the net and reading local level club newsletters. Latts and Atts is the best of the big ones, but nothing is better than reading what the average joe's like myself are doing and what various clubs are doing to keep membership up and happy. I have a pet peeve about spelling, even though I misspell my own share...I used to spell everything wrong, back word letters etc.., even though I am college educated. I didn't care when I hand wrote most things, but with e-mail etc..., I feel like an idiot when I put a series of misspelled words out for all eternity and everyone to see! Even with the exception of a reading disability as a child, most of my spelling errors are still just from laziness and lack of the will to get it right...This is not to say I always spell words correctly..I sertainley dno't, but geez we dael wtih lattuide erevytmie we trun on the GSP...Hey, it DEOS hvae two "T"s.... Sorry about the temporary highjack...:)

Windcheck!

Windcheck is a little over a year old and is aimed at sailing in the northeast. Great magazine!

W.B. is Still my favorite!

Even though we have a 'glass sailboat, my favorite magazine is still Wooden Boat! The articles are interesting, especially for a woodworker; the history is well done, and the photography is great!

British sailing magazines

I had subscribed to CRUISING WORLD for years. I bought a few British sailing/boating mags at West Marine 5 years ago. I canceled my CRUISING WORLD subscription and now only subscribe to YACHTING MONTHLY, PRACTICAL BOAT OWNER (both British) and MULTIHULL WORLD (French). Like so many things MADE IN THE USA, they too are second class in comparison to foreign made products (who remembers Johnson and Evenrude, and who cares?). In those magazines, the artwork, photography, illustrations, and thoroughness of the articles put american shit to shame. It's the same with too many other american products. My motto: BUY FOREIGN. AMERICA IS A LOOSING PROPOSITION.

Maybe you should move there. You'd probably fit in perfectly in France.
