Just 2 days earlier, I spent the day replacing the clutch on my BMW K100RT motorcycle. That took 100 parts out and in, to replace 1, and I think it was less trouble than the dang keel bolt in sweat equity. Self-education, indeed.
Mick, that sure looks like a tub of love, 'cause I can't think of any other reason to start with so bare a shell. Even mine was in better shape than that, I think. Maybe. If I keep telling myself that. At least I didn't have to redo ports and patch big holes and other serious harware issues - just a good cleaning, painting and remodel.
Thanks for all the support guys. In a couple weeks, we'll be out with the Scouts, and I can start posting pictures of it in use, instead of griping about fixing it. Of course, next year it'll need new rigging, maybe new sails, and better interior design touches... but functional is step one, and I'm just about there.
