Finally got out for first sail of 2020! Was a great day with 10-15 knts and gusting up to a sporty 18+ knts. Just my daughter and I so stuck the jib up and enjoyed an easy 4-5 knts with it alone. I was surprised I had the helm balanced with just a jib and could do hands off the wheel. Oh and loved my cheap $50 Galaxy Tab A in a Unicorn Beatle case. This was a used 2018 Verizon model with built in GPS that worked great.

Worked from the boat part of the day today, I had a plan and well you know. I was planning to do fuel filter change and accessed the aft port storage area in the birth area that I use to store maintenance parts and filters. It appears condensation is the cause and left my fuel filter boxes damp and wet. There is now rust on 2 of them. I'm not sure if I should toss them or try cleaning them, any thoughts?

I have had the same issue with stored filters. Looks like some heavy rust under the o-rings, so I would hesitate to use them. Maybe treat the rust, and save them as emergency backups. God knows. they are not cheap, so it would be tough to just throw them away!

Got a nice day sail in today, my daughter is away with my wife at a thespian competition so my son was my crew. Made it out a bit before lunch and had nice 10ish most of the time with some gusts to 15-18 knts. He hasn't spent as much time on the water under sail but picked it up fast and we had some sporty fun, at least for a lake!

Oh these pics show my new "captain chair" my family got me for Christmas. The old leaning rest seat was ok but sitting back with a proper backrest is a lot more comfortable. The swim ladder doesn't close and latch so I'll be looking at reproducing what @paulj did with a pullout that can be accessed from the water.

We practiced social distance today, took RoseLeigh out for first all family sail! Wife took pics and she also had a great nap on the forward birth. Wind was good for lake and managed better the 5 knts with full sail. Sun only showed for 2 minutes but still had fun and no issues. Oh except when a few gusts had us 15 deg over and she slide to leeward side.

Weather has been terrible, rain everyday for over a week. There were 5 sailboats out today, so pretty good turn out.

@Witzend that is awesome. The PO installed the pedestal and a leaning pad originally. For Christmas my wife got me this seat but the pedestal is to far back and the seat back hits the ladder. I've debated moving it forward or a different boarding ladder. I like your take with it hinging sideways.

Since these pics were taken I have removed the standard ladder and have a pull out. So now just a chain is in back of the helm seat. Works very nicely as we are on a mooring and enter from the stern. The pull out is way safer as you can access it from the water if you fall overboard.

Can you post a picture of the pull out ladder?

I think if I sat that high my head would be bumping against the Bimini

My seated height is pretty much the same as @Witzend noteven close to the bimini. I'm 5'10" and clearance is several inches under it.

I'm 6' 0", at least I am in the morning. I can stand under my bimini, just barely. I cannot wear a ball cap under it - no room

Second week in a row for sailing. My job has been declared critical needs so after 4 days of intensive work load I took half day today to get the kids out of the house. Temps warmed up to low 80s so the dang wasps were swarming everywhere. No nest on sails but getting out of the slip fast helped keep us sting free. Sailing was excellent till 4 when it dropped off and we head back in. Nice 3 hour sail around and plenty of good sailing handling. Kids did bulk of setting, trimming and rolled and tied everything up. Love the extra help and a few more weeks of this and we will have a great routine down.
