I've seen them on outside main breakers. check electrical supply like everglades electric. or your local speed shop.

-was also thinking of a wing nut on the arm, but you probably want it in place at all times.

Almost forgot, that keel is 270#. That teak is plenty strong though. And if it bends or breaks, I will just go thicker.

Today I installed the chainplates for the shrouds, finished the bed fillers, put on some new flex trim around the companionway, and fabricated an aluminum plate so the end of the anchor doesn't scratch the deck. I also designed a removable mast post and started working on that.

Now I am thinking about moving the mainsheet to a more midboom location. I think the original will get hung up on the motor. What do you guys think? Maybe I could run a track along the winch board for a traveler.

is that the real cosmic muffin? where's it docked these days?

your mainsheet is like on the m25's? well aft.

I like midboom mainsheets, easier to adjust looking ahead.

But pulling up on that board, you'll need some L brackets, or some bracing under it... -but guess you know that.

260# underwater.. feels like what 200# I'd see if the admiral can winch it up before buying a spinner knob.

edit, reading the link, it got re-restored? awesome! last I saw it, it was not looking so great.

Yep, it is on the new river just north of the low railroad bridge past the marinas. We met the owner and had quite the tour. That's my dad and he is a pilot too. Dave apparently likes when flyers are into his planeboat . He is restoring it now. That bar was built by Howard Hughes for Rita Hayworth.

Maybe just a line to hold it over to the side and out of the way--- The bag hold the keel lock down bolt.

Not sure about storing the rode. May just keep it inside under cockpit . I will give it a few uses before I make more holes.

What's left, have to mount all the sailing hardware and finish the rudder. That's just to get it sailing. There is still a ton of paint touch up, electrical, and finish stuff.
May do a quick float check this week.

I made a cool removable mast support pole today. Pics later.

Not sure about storing the rode.
I use one of these and I hang it from a SS hook designed for a life sling. It hangs on my main salon bulkhead and holds 100' of nylon rode.

I think they are $11 at WalMart. You can also buy significantly larger ones if you need/want to store more than 100' on your boat but I have never felt the need for more on mine.

This is the new removable mast post. I don't think I will be taking it out much though. I took it out with the mast up and the ceiling flexed down about 3/8 of an inch. I guess I could relax the tension on the stays if I was motivated. Also could leave it out if I were just cruising without the mast.
Also finished the new roller furling set up on the boom and got the registration numbers on.
Now I am trying to decide where to run the mainsheet. I want to be able to have a bimini top that won't interfere.
I tried my lantern out as well. Its very livable with that at night. I can't wait to get cruising.

If you are topside without that mast post, you may cause cracking when going forward. I think I'd keep it in all the time; but that is i nice solution for removal.

If that is a $5 latern be aware that if you tip it towards the uprights it may spill oil, some have tank vent holes there.

Hollyweirdos:

I watch this thread with KEEN interest.

We bought a 1974 Venture 224 fixer upper last year - and I hope you don't mind if I rip off some of your ideas....

I got one of these at Dick's Sporting Goods on the clearance rack for $8. It is great. It has two settings so you can dim it down if someone is trying to sleep and you want to read. It is not hot and a set of batteries should last a few seasons. There is a folding hook on the base so you can hang it from a hook and it shines down. As my cabin lights fail, I'm going to replace them all with this.. or maybe just pull the cabin lights and open that switch on the breaker for something else?

You can find a few cheap variations of this type of lamp at WalMart as well.

2 cents

Lantern: It wasnt quite that cheap but not that much more. I will do a tip test but I think I will be hanging it anyway when in use. Only at anchor anyway on a calm night. I will also be installing those combo red/white led cabin lights for normal ops.

Topcat, by all means, steal away! I get a lot of my ideas from others.

So this is what I made for the mainsheet control. It is end-boom sheeting with a traveler. Seems like it will work. The lower "triangle" is the traveler. It works by moving in a loop with a shackle as the anchor for the mainsheet fiddle block. The V cleats allow the traveler to be locked in either direction. The fairleads keep the line off of the deck and under the tiller. The stand up blocks are drawn wrong, I just saw that they are pulled from the outside to the inside. My bad. Alcohol. The mainsheet system is a standard 4:1 with a fiddleblock/cam/becket on the bottom and a double block on top. I have read that end boom sheeting may require a boom vang. We will see if that is true. If its obvious, I will add one but I am not sure I even can tell the diff. (Couldnt on my last boat).
I think this is the best solution so that I can add a bimini down the road and not have lines running through the cockpit.
BTW, maybe Sunday for a test launch. Maybe. Still need to install the halyard blocks and cleats and the jibsheet blocks and cams. The pvc furler will wait.
Decided that a 4:1 is too much, a 3:1 should do it.
