Agreed. For all it's clever design, the interior looks as if feature placement were via paintball. I might change my mind if I toured one but to my eye, the interior is cluttered

Doubt it could go for that for a 4 year old used one, but that depends on what someone is willing to pay, I guess.

Here's a link to a factory price list. Not sure of the year though. Everything's an extra, so it all depends on that options the boat had to begin with.

(I think there's an extra 0 in the trailer pricing :)

The pricelist is most likely outdated. I am substantiating my opinion on two other Seawards I found for sale.
First one (expired), listed for $64000 (2010 model, sold same year) and claiming savings of $20000.
http://sailingtexas.com/201009/sseaward26103.html

Second one, 2011 listed for $71,900
http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/27527

I am guessing the price of brand new boat is somewhere between $75000-80000, but this is for a boat with wheel steering and an inboard diesel. For TES 720 on page 1, saildrive Yanmar option was for about $6000 and this type is more expensive than straight-shaft diesel as found on 26RK. The best would be to contact dealer directly and inquire, otherwise we might be just throwing numbers left and right.

If I had to go under that bridge every time I went out I'd switch to a pontoon boat!

Its not that bad. The nicest part of the lake is not the largest, but rather a bay that is 1km by 1km or so. It is very quiet, with sandy shoreline and warm water.... but that is why it attracts weekenders. I have been told on a couple of occasions that I have launched the boat on the wrong side of the lake :D I usually go there at least twice a month and spend the night either on anchor or I beach the boat.

Check out the Presto 30. A bit pricey new, but a used one ( if there are any) should fit your specs.

Copied from the other post...

Like anything, sailboat design is a balance of compromise & capability.
Differing designs simply reflect the architect's priorities.

It is you that must decide what your own priorities are.
I suggest sketching out what you intend to do with your yacht.

I'm a die-hard trailer-sailor, so the practical elements of trailering, rigging & launching float to the top of the "features" list ...for me.:)

...if the boat is so heavy you need a monster truck to drag it around, you have to accept that.
...if it takes you three hours to rig before launching, you have to accept that.
...if you can't ramp launch her and need a lift, that severely limits where you can explore and you have to accept that.

You get my point...
I see "large" yachts sitting on trailers that rarely get wet because it's too much of a hassle!

Remember, the idea is to go SAILING !!
So make sure you end up with something (anything) that will maximize that end!!
The other compromises you make will seem less important...
...because you'll be SAILING !!!

Having said all that, I will throw out the design that best fits MY CURRENT sailing profile...

The Capri 22

-Dry dock her on the side of my garage...
-Easy-peasy to trailer with my Honda Ridgeline...
-Rigged and down the ramp in an hour + 15...
-Adequate for one or two nights afloat...
-Good performance with nimble, dinghy-like maneuverability...
-Huge cockpit for comfortable sailing with friends...
-STILL in production... (a testament to value!)

...I rest my case!!:)

Absolutely wonderful videos!

aviatorjames - I see in your first video when your main is reefed that the leech grommet is not pulled down tight to the top of the boom like the other grommets that are making the mainsail very flat. I struggled with this set up helping other sailors when you have the reefing line pulling clear back to the end of the boom and not down to a turning block on the side of the boom directly under this grommet like the old setups.

Here’s a work-a-round, instead of tying the other end of the rear reefing line to the boom, extend it down under the boom and back up the other side and tie a slipknot over the line area that runs to the end of the boom. This loop will act as a noose that will get smaller and smaller as you pull on the reefing line. The reefing line will still pull backwards and the noose will get smaller pulling the grommet downward to the boom thus pulling the leech and the foot at the grommet very tight to the boom.

Great idea! ...I'll try that next time out! ...Thanks!!

Is "Watercolors" her name?
...if so, I like it!

I guess I'll be the odd man out. I like the lines of the Seaward line. Old school good looks, something modern boats don't have IMO.

The price is a bit, uh, rich for my blood, but the looks are just tops. :)

I like the lines and proportions of the smaller ones better than the larger/longer ones, but I'd take any of them if I wasn't writing the check.

The one above was over in the Everglades when we were. Above is New Turkey Key south of Everglades City and we also saw her the next day down at Little Shark River. A nice looking boat and loved the sound of the little diesel chugging along as they passed us,

We have had what we consider the best trailer boat since 1993.

A Nor'Sea 27.

True, a small car can not tow it, but it is very comfortable on the trailer, or at sea, and can (and have) sail around the world.

my ideal trailer sailor......3 things i wish mine had.

  1. put galley out side of cabin - either in a pod across the transom, or with one of the cockpit seats - make the bench top open to reveal a stove and food prep area - with a built in drain and wash down.
  2. rather than cramming in 4 small bunks, make two large comfortable beds.
  3. well made, well sorted bow sprit with spinnaker on furler.

The Beneteau First 25S, which is coming to the USA in the spring, meets a lot of your requirements. The ones it misses are:

swing keel (not centerboard) but helps seawothyness (CE B rated)
Inboard diesel
Beam 9.0 feet
Mast is desk stepped but would be handful to lower on the water.

We have the First 260, same boat but slightly different rig and we absolutely love it.

Discussed here in the beneteau forum.

How about this??

The Huzar 28 is absolutely stunning...but this is off-topic just a tad.

-> I did mention the First 25S on first page. It is very good looking boat. May I ask what is the landed price (send a PM if you don't want to post price in the open)
dlandersson -> No and no, sorry. No Hake and no motor sailors.
