I just installed it, out of date and all. Worth a try to see just how buggy it is as an unsupported option. Now I'll see if I can turn off that notification. :) Announcement coming shortly.

Will there be an updated mobile app? Everyone I know uses the app to access the forum - it's far better than anything else on a mobile device.

Chris
Chris, this question gets asked more than any other since the "change".... and has been answered just as many times;-)
there is no need for the app any longer. just type sailboatowners.com into your browser window on your phone and then when it pops up, bookmark it to your phone "desktop".....that all there is to it.
I have an android phone, and it shows almost exactly the same way as what we see here on the PC....

Phil... when replying w/quote, there is a line or box or border around the original text, and when I start typing my reply it starts right after the last "quote" like it did in the old format. (I always hit the enter button twice before starting my text to allow for some separation from the original)
but the confusion lies in that, when I continue to type and my paragragh gets a few sentences long, the lower line/border of the box comes up through my paragraph, and im not sure if i should have moved my curser below the line before I started typing or if it makes any difference at all, but the lower line/border is confusing.
the first time I saw it, I thought it was the end of the available space to type into, yet when I continued to type, the next line of text landed right directly ON the line/border... and the following lines fell below the line/border.
im not sure what the purpose of the line/border is, and maybe its by design, or maybe its not, but it is the only thing i can see that seems "wrong"..... Thanks

Well guess this is all necessary but I much preferred the old system.
What I have noticed so far.
I can't see the print as I type login (window 8)
Like my friend Ward, I miss the "All Discussions" option. (chief complaint)
I would prefer to block some posts instead of whole forums
Do I need to re-register?
I like some of the ads, can I still view them after re-reigistering?
As you see, I could also use a spell check!
Thank you for all your efforts.
ps I wonder if it might be better to have all O'Day forums under one forum to make following them easier that looking at them one at a time?
I now have the option of "all discussions", and you should too... i had to remove my previous bookmark and re-mark it to get it to pop up when I logged in..

I think it would be great to be able to block certain threads, rather than particular forums also.. some subjects (such as racing) I just have no interest in, but there are still other interesting subjects within the forum.

as for the spell check you should have it already... when you mispell a word it should be underlined in red... click on the word and then right click on it... it should give you the option of choosing the right spelling...
full on auto-correct would be a nice option for a lot of people who post here.... including me:)

There is an option to block a thread when you're viewing that thread, under Thread Tools. I'll take another look at that box issue, I was hoping I had it fixed.

Hi Rich,
Yes, go to the gear ads and look in the menu bar below the headline. There should be a link for either "My Ads" or "Advertiser Login." Once the page recognizes you as logged in the My Ads link will take you to a list of your ads. Clicking into the ad should show you a link for cancelation. But let me know if I'm hallucinating again.

Been there, done that. I can cancel but the ad is archived for future use. I would like to delete it entirely as the item was sold. See the screen shot below. Ans since in some cases I have renewed the ad, it is archived several times.

That was fast, Phil, but.....
The "Delete my ad" seems to have no effect. The ad is still present in the list when I go back to it. It would be nice to be returned to the list of ads after a deletion.

And I found a bug- If I click on "Classifieds" at the top of this page I get a page that has Sailboats for Sale and a link that says "My Ads". See the first screenshot below. If I click on "My Ads" then I get a page that says I have no active ads. See second screenshot below. But if instead of clicking on the "Classifieds", I click on "Gear Ads" in the drop-down list, I get a page that says "Used Gear for Sale" and a link that says "My Gear Ads". This link does send me to a list of my ads.

ok i just went to classifieds and it took me to the main page of boats as i assume it was supposed to...from the header i clicked on gear ads and it took me there as i assume it was supposed to ...from there i clicked my ads and it brought them up as i expected ...then there was an edit choice so i went to an ad i want to delete and did that ...it was gone so i then went to forum list from there then went back to my ads and it was gone ...i am assuming after you delete an ad you have to leave the scene of the crime to clear the thing out not being argumentative here just trying to understand and share what i have found hope this helps

Woodster,

I just copied your post on paper so I could follow it step-by-step. My ad did not delete. My mileage must vary. I am using Firefox, and I cleared all of the SBO cookies yesterday - at least I think I got them all. Hmmmm.

EDITED: I just added a test ad and tried to delete it as an active ad. Still no-go. The other ads I was trying to delete were expired. I just wanted to see if the ad status made a difference.

No apology necessary. You truly are the Battleship heavyweight admin. Thanks also to Woodster for help. If this stuff was easy, anyone could do it.

I noticed a strange thing. The red marker for new posts says 41, but when I press the link it shows only 5 messages. I know that it worked well yesterday (though i never really counted them). It seems unlikely that there was so little forum activity since the last time I "marked all forums read", but even if it is true, the counter and the list don't match.
