Eye Splice double-braid

Rick, in my experience it is in measuring and or coming out of the cover a little beyond the measurement. You might be able to keep working the splice with your hands and improve it a little. Try pitting the eye over a fixed post and pulling on the line to stretch the cover and core. This is the real test of your splice.

Over all your splice looks fine.
