I've used a shaker siphon, works great but my hands always end up smelling like diesel. The Surecan works great but a 5 gal can weighs a lot to be holding high enough to empty. I have a 2.5 gal one I use for the outboard and never had issues.
I do keep a white engine drip pad with my siphon. I have a bag with a ziplock with the siphon, a couple white pads, a funnel and small cup for collecting the last remaining..I keep Biobor Jr. in the bag too.

My transferred pump cost 25 bucks and It does a gallon per minute of diesel fuel. The only problem is I need a 12 volt DC source so I have a riding lawnmower battery that I use for other things also if a source isn’t close.
