Bilge Pump for O'day 20

Has anyone installed an electric/automatic bilge pump or sump pump in their O'day 20 or similar?

Is the bilge the correct place to expect water accumulation while underway? Are there other problem areas that also need pumps? Like in the transom area or the compartment under the cockpit hatch?

Try sailing your boat before installing a bilge pump. You may not need an electric bilge pump. If you don't, why go to the bother and expense to add complexity?
Regardless of an electric bilge pump, do buy a good quality bilge hand-pump.

Anecdotally, my '77 O'Day does not take on water while sailing or even while floating in a slip. Water will accumulate in the bilge from rain and condensation. A few strokes of the manual pump at the beginning of an outing is all I've ever needed. Usually, it's just a few squeezes of a sponge.
