Lower Potomac River

Slip fee for my Pearson 26 is $1080/yr. Includes showers and a nice restaurant. Almost new piers w/fingers due to hurricane Isabel, elec approx $10/mo paid annually. Haul, power wash, block and launch $160. It's 45 min from home but we sail every week from mid March to end Oct. I think it's very reasonable. Not elegant but the sailing is wonderful!! As you get to the upper Potomac the $s double. About tripple around Annapolis. David

I'm looking at 275/mo + utils for a 40ft slip for my First42. currently have a hunter33 in the city for $300/mo. (25 year waiting list i hear). sail all year round in 10-30 knots in an amazing environment, can't complain. ps, is there any wind in sunny florida (hurricanes notwithstanding) or do you motor from port to port? :)

Darrel, I'm with Patrick on this one.

Our back door is the San Juan's, Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound. I've done the Bahama's several times in our boat. Home is better.(Canada too) Did I mention the water gets into the 80s in Desolation Sou.. Ow! Sorry dear, I know it was a secret! Now she's yelling that I'll probably blab that US boats cruise BC for free for as long as they want. I won't do that. What are they charging in the Bahamas? Not including the $80.00 bribe I was asked for to clear in,,, best cruising, NOT. P.S. Did they ever get the nav aids re-installed after hurricane Andrew? Last time I was there in 2000 everything was still destroyed. What did the last storms do to them? Ah, paradise.

I'd rather be on the ocean...

Slip is $2500; winter storage $500 at the boat yard. Haul out, wash and anything else is extra. I've been told slip fees will rise next year.

We pay for the size of our boat C36 @ 37.10 ft is $349 per month all in except property tax on the slip value ($58/year). That figures to $4,238/year on the ocean 25 miles from Catalina Island.

Slip Fees -- Mid Bay

I'm in huge, well run marina on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, about 20 miles south of Annapolis. I pay $2,350 per year for a 30 ft slip, which includes water and electricity. Winter haul outs and land storage run another $600 or so, if I choose to use that option (I do). In the Annapolis area, the same slip, with water and electricity would run $500 - $1,500 more for the same size slip, depending on the marina and its amenities.

Sell my boat

If I had to spend as much as you guys are paying for a hole in the water and some posts to tie to, it would put an end to my many years of sailing. I keep my boat behind my friend's house and when it needs a bottom job we put it on a trailer built by another friend and haul it to another friend's 4 acres with his truck. My only limitations are the low tides in the canal behind my friends home and the cold fronts that come down to Florida. July and Aug. are not to good good in the Gulf. Just to hot with very light winds.

We love it

We keep our boat in the sassafrass river in MD Top of the Chesapeake Bay, we have our 46' Morgan in a 60' slip, nice and wide the anual cost is $3900.00 including 1 30amp electric (dbl cost more), water, pump out T head, pool, shower house and a small play groung for the kids. The owner always checks on your boat, adjusts lines if needed and calls when the tarp blows off your boat. This cozy marina is definitly a home away from home. Down side is an hour motor out the river to open bay, and an hour drive from home to the dock. But in Pennsylvania thats not to bad!.....still looking for that house on the water with deep water dock and ocean access!!!
