We pay at the marina that I stay at per month: $300 for a 50 ft slip plus a $5 utility charge plus the electric meter cost. The electricity runs about $10 a month. We have to motor about 400 ft to the pumpout which costs $5. And the bad news is that we can sail only 11 months out of the year. August is too hot to sail.:)

good thing i have a mooring

Slips around where I am are going for about $202/ft for the season (hyannis marina). So if I was to keep my C30 there it would be $6060. Thank god I pay $40/year for the mooring renewal and the inspection every 3 years. Gotta love cape cod prices!

Fee's? What Fee's?

I pay $26.00 to have a hoist put my boat in the water. When I'm finished sailing I take my boat home and park it in the back yard. We also sail 12 months out of the year here.

Hyannis Marina could be highest

Hyannis Marina slips start at $202 per foot for the season would set you back, $7070. They have a nice sailing race in may called the "figawi" named after the expression, "where the figawi?" I'm on a friends mooring for this season($300) Slip fee's here, seem a little high for this old guy. The inside of my Cal 33, thought I'd share because I'm proud of her.

Birch Bay Washington
Strait of Georgia is outside the entrance -

San Juans are 12 miles to the south. Canada is west as well as north. 63 foot slip is $996.50 per year. Security guard patrols frequently. Lighted dock - 30 amp service - only two for my side of the pier. Electricity is less than $10 per month. Free moorage (3 day limit) for our guests. 70 degree water in the summer in the bay and the marina - nice for swimming - bad for stuff growing on the hull. Only drawback is the prevailing wind is a crosswind making it a little difficult to dock backing in - darn! Our house is 1/2 mile away - too doggon far if you ask me.

Docking Fees

Lake Travis marina hits me up for $150/mo for a 20' long slip for my Mac 22. It includes power and water and pump-out services.

We have two boats

We have a 25' O'Day that is "lake bound" (except when we trailer it somewhere). The slip fee on Lake Grapevine in North Texas is about $152 a month. Includes showers, water, and we don't get charged extra for electric. On the bigger boats, or those that are obviously using more power, as in regularly running air conditioners, they hook up meters. Our "coast boat", a Coronado 35 is on Lake Pontchartrain (directu Gulf access) in Louisiana. We pay $161 for that slip (10' bigger), and that includes showers, water, and a pool. Better deal, but the other marina is closer to home. I think our first electric bill was about $5.

Price of Boat Ownership

Slip fees are part of the price of boat ownership. Always has been, always will be. There is a big variation in the cost as all can see, but would anyone give it up because of the cost? Every time you write the check, if your like me your dreaming of the wind in your face and the overall pleasure derived from sailing your boat as often as you can. Hey Patrick up in Washington. 70 degree water in the summer? We would not even stick our big toe in that in the dead of winter here in Florida. How bout 86 degree water in the summer and it cools way off to 75 in the winter. Oh, and I rent dock space behind a private home less than 1 1/2 mile from the inlet that takes me into the Atlantic and less than 100 miles to the best cruising area in the world, the Bahamas. All it cost is $250. per month. All in all pretty good deal, but everything being equal, cost wise that is, I'd still do it even if it cost twicw that much.
