Ok, bit of an update. Got the spreader back in place. Might sound simple but we are in 8 to 10 foot waves. Working in the rigging is anything but easy.

The clamp on the spreader tip is gone, otherwise the spreader itself looks fine. I'm going now to tweek the rigging and see if that is sufficient to get to Horta. I have confidence it will.
GREAT NEWS!!!

We've got some wave increases coming but as they are being driven from afar, I am hoping they are gentil giants only.

Any chance you have any pics of that spreader end fitting?

No. Not at this point. When I get to Horta I can. Too bad I didn't think of this when we were working on getting it back in place. Might of been able to get and end shot.... With everything up, I don't see how I can get a pic now of the end fitting.

Thanks. Maybe I can enhance the images.

@dLj , can you describe the broken fitting, or perhaps draw a little sketch from memory?

If you can find an exploded view of some Seldon end caps, you can post them to him to see if they look close.

The Spreader Tip casting "D" , my post #211, is what is missing.

But once in Berth in Azores, Dave will fix it.

The last couple of days should be really nice. Do you run a asymmetric or something else for downwind work.

Describe perhaps yes, draw right now no. None of the pictures of tips above look like mine.

There is an insert in the end of the spreader with a single notch. That piece is still in the spreader and being used, thank goodness, without that I doubt we could be where we are with our current Rube Goldberg.

On the end of that piece there is a plate within believe two screws that go straight into that notched spreader tip clamping the two stays into the tip. It quite low profile, I can hardly seen the one on the other side from deck.
