Now to attach the coupling to the transmission, align the coupler and shaft, put the parts back on the engine that made it to fat to go into the space, but that is a thing for another day...
And V drives are SOOOO much fun... easy access (not)!! Good luck....

NOT PC:

I always thought sailboats should come with a midget contortionist with 10 inch fingers. It would be a lot easier than me getting my 6-1 frame down there. Wherever there is.

Hi John,
we arrived home last evening after a very restful tour of the northern half of the Salish Sea. We‘ll be home for a bit then try. It again. Do you think you and Terry will make it up for the lamb bbq?

The desire is strong but the progress on the engine tells me... not this year. Still not in the water. Maybe by Wednesday I'll get to splash.

Hi Michael. Kinda waiting on John so that we can sail together. Maybe next year for the BBQ? My sail plan includes a stop by Saturna for a visit if you're still around. Maybe a week from now, thereabouts.

That sounds great Terry. We will be home for a couple of weeks I think, then maybe another couple of more weeks out. I have to be home again for a meeting on the 25 July.

Hi Michael! Just wondering what the anchoring situation is in Winter Cove for this event. Is this one where you need to drop the hook several days prior due to the number of boats. Always like Saturna. My grandfather used to own the house in the southern end of Veruna Cove And all the way out to west side of Church Bay and start of Minx Reef. Wonder if the little church is still there..Last time I stopped in and introduced myself was about 25 yrs ago..I spent time there growing up for several yrs..

Hi Mark
It can get pretty busy in Winter Cove during the BBQ. Always better to get here the day before to beat the last minute arrivals.
The little church was still there the last time we went past. Things don’t change very much on small islands. Having said that you will notices a few changes if you haven’t been here for 25 years.
Hope to see you here.

BOAT YOGA DAY
Yesterday was a series of run around activities... Crawl down into the lazaret. Hold this wrench. Pull the exhaust hose back so I can get it on the new exhaust pipe. Where is that 2" piece of hose? You don't have a 2'"piece of 1.25" hose in the box. What? Run to NAPA, they will have some...

There are so many little tasks involved in getting the engine back together.

We dumped half a gallon of coolant into the bilge. Mechanic said lets fill the engine up with fluids. I asked are we ready? Sure... I started to dump the coolant into the expansion tank. In the process, as the first gallon was filling the expansion the tank, I and heard the sound of someone peeing. I stopped. "Why does it sound like someone is peeing?" Out came the flashlight. Where is the red fluid? Damn... There is a hole in the lower port side of the engine block. "I'll get a 1/2" plug from the van." Ok.. Let's keep filling. Wait wait... I need to tighten up a hose on the starboard side... Ok keep filing. There that's it. She is at the top...

Crazy like clearing a mine field by stomping the ground. It was about 7:30pm when we called it a day. I had not eaten lunch. It was a good time to quit.

Back to the boat today. We are nearly there. One more time, checking wires, fluid levels and I'll try to start the engine to test the transmission before we splash. There is no raw water in the engine block. It will be a short start, look for leaks, test the transmission, see the prop turn, 60 seconds turn it off.

Splash is scheduled for 1PM.

Fingers crossed prayers said, as SV Hadley greets Poseidon, again.
