BOAT YOGA DAY
Yesterday was a series of run around activities... Crawl down into the lazaret. Hold this wrench. Pull the exhaust hose back so I can get it on the new exhaust pipe. Where is that 2" piece of hose? You don't have a 2'"piece of 1.25" hose in the box. What? Run to NAPA, they will have some...
There are so many little tasks involved in getting the engine back together.
We dumped half a gallon of coolant into the bilge. Mechanic said lets fill the engine up with fluids. I asked are we ready? Sure... I started to dump the coolant into the expansion tank. In the process, as the first gallon was filling the expansion the tank, I and heard the sound of someone peeing. I stopped. "Why does it sound like someone is peeing?" Out came the flashlight. Where is the red fluid? Damn... There is a hole in the lower port side of the engine block. "I'll get a 1/2" plug from the van." Ok.. Let's keep filling. Wait wait... I need to tighten up a hose on the starboard side... Ok keep filing. There that's it. She is at the top...
Crazy like clearing a mine field by stomping the ground. It was about 7:30pm when we called it a day. I had not eaten lunch. It was a good time to quit.
Back to the boat today. We are nearly there. One more time, checking wires, fluid levels and I'll try to start the engine to test the transmission before we splash. There is no raw water in the engine block. It will be a short start, look for leaks, test the transmission, see the prop turn, 60 seconds turn it off.
Splash is scheduled for 1PM.
Fingers crossed prayers said, as SV Hadley greets Poseidon, again.
