but I have not seen the throw bag in sailing...
Yes, we have them. We acquired one for our vessel before heading offshore.

(Update: Just saw the Balcan Bell video - believe that’s what we have here)

A plan to get someone bigger than you out of the water needs to use mechanical assistance. You have several options on your boat that you can employ.

The most obvious to me is a sheet winch, a couple of block to improve your lifting ability, and your sheets or halyards or extra line.
Tie a big double bowline at the end of the line. That you drop over the persons arms and shoulders. You going to lift under the arms. Perhaps with the double bowline the person can sit on one of the loops and the other rides on his/her back.
Now run the line to a series of blocks (like the blocks on your boom and cockpit or the main sheet.).
Each block turn helps multiply your power to lift and object.
Finally run the line to your larger winch.
Wind the line about the winch and lift out of the water.

This is just the story. To implement it you really need to rig it and try it.
This winter would be a good time to plan it out. Then next spring put the plan to use. Trying it will show it is a success or needs more work.

We all need a plan. For some it will be a working plan, for others a hopeful call for help.

One of the things I saw at Annapolis was a MOB that used a drogue to lift the person out of the water. No winching or block and tackle.

A number of MOB recovering methods were tested by Yachting Monthly in 2015. The report is still available here: MOB report. Certainly, worth reading.

Btw. Lifesling (or similar; there are now multiple vendors who produce this kind of device) and your mainsheet tackle can be a decent combination.

Edit: another link to an article: https://www.yachtingmonthly.com/sailing-skills/how-an-8st-crew-can-recover-a-20st-mob-31075. Possibly more related, since this is an Admiral trying to lift the skipper.

Your title for this thread seems to imply that drunks anywhere but on a dock are OK. I've certainly been one and been around plenty of drunks on docks and even had a very similar incident happen at the Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua, of having to rescue a very fat, very drunk guy from the water many years past, but it has been a very long time since I've enjoyed the company of drunk people, anywhere, anytime.

How does that work at a dock?
Maybe if the were two drunks, one could act as a counter weight for the other.

It'll go full circle with planes on a sailboat. Well, drones, anyhow.
Or
Snakes on a dock

Don't laugh too much, I have found snakes, bugs, birds, birds nests with eggs, and at least one large rather dead reptile on a plane

Any giant squid? No! You haven't. That's why I feel safe when I fly.
