I know a scow sailor who had “ONO” painted on the bottom of his boat. Didn’t matter whether he capsized to port or starboard, the meaning was the same.

Is that a weird shadow aft of his message, or is that hull oil-canning badly?

Overheard earlier at the marina, "Don't worry, the jack stand will be fine there."

I might have posted this some time ago, but "induced heel" jogged my memory...
Haha
I had to study it for a moment but you can see the tractor's tire just to the left of port.

Hmmmm... "...left of port". Kind of has a ring to it. But I'm not sure what I could use that for.

Challenge: 10 point to the first post who can use the term "left of port" in a nautical way that makes sense and does not seem forced. :poke:

Hillary seems far left of port.
Come on, everyone knows that Hillary is not left of port she is right of port. Bernie is left of port. And Donnie? He's somewhere adrift in the Sargasso sea, we think maybe....

According to the current RCP average, only 41.8% of us will find that one funny.
We progressives have a great sense of humor. Have you looked at Tom Toles's Editorial Cartoons?

Arh, we be settin' sail for the port in Queen Anne. Steer by sight & set your course for the tallest tree to the left of port.

...Something that Edward Teach might have said.

"I'm looking for Marrowstone Island."
"Oh, that's easy. It's just left of Port Townsend."

Left of Port or Right of Starboard?

Once, while in our slip on the Bohemia River, MD I was checking for "dock rash" along the starboard side of the hull. I tried to see farther down toward the waterline by leaning on the lifeline. Someone (probably me) had unclipped the lifeline near the cockpit. As I leaned out over the toe rail the lifeline slid and I did a front flip into the water! I surfaced laughing and realized I was a short distance right of starboard. (True story)

Green to green, red to red, all is well, go ahead.
When in danger or in doubt, run in circles, scream & shout.
