The Official "What Did You Do To Your Mac Today" Thread!

Well technically Monday, not today, but I juiced up and connected batteries, connected gas tank, rigged the mast and connected stays, installed new boom vang and topping lift, connected fresh water bag to sink faucet, repaired damaged gel coat above water line, pressure washed and waxed the hull, installed new masthead fly, coiled, labeled and hung all the lines in the cabin. Then the Admiral and I raised the mast and launched her. Juvat is now tied to the dock and ready for summer fun to begin this weekend. I'll tell on myself. After eight months of not sailing (long winters in Montana), I was a bit rusty. I kept pushing the engine kill button, wondering why the electric starter wasn't working)

What I haven't done over the last couple weeks is to put "Mistress" back on the water. The torrential rains in Central Texas have pushed the water levels in the local lake up over 6ft. As of yesterday, the lake is at 100% capacity. Unfortunately, flooding brought other problems:
Wow! I generally don't pay much attention to the media on these events because they seem to make them more than they really are. but it looks like this one was actually a pretty big deal. that will take a wile for the debris to head downstream etc. How do things look for any marinas on the lake? moored boats all ok?

At what point is everything on a boat "the way I want it"? It never seems to end ;)
Lately I've been removing clutter from the deck. mostly lots of mixed oddball blocks and fittings surrounding the mast base that I'm not using anyway so I wanted them out of my way when walking up topside. Once the clutter was removed, the holes were filled with resin, sanded down flush, and touch-up painted to match. it came out nice and "clean". I like it!

The weight loss alone should be worth a few tenths ;) :

I had the mast off the boat for the past few days in order to more easily remove the junk, and build the mast gate (ck it out in another thread here under "mast gate for an M25"). so wile I was at it I closed the mast slot down to a consistent 3/16" as I've discovered on my C14.2 that this will make raising and lowering a sail with mast slugs about a thousand times smoother.
I've also given up on trying to utilize the boom roller furler system (ya ya… I know ;) ). I gave it a real effort, but I'm tired of fighting it, so I'm setting up a more traditional slab reefing system. that's actually done now also, except for waiting on two cheek blocks.

I think it's about the way I want it now :)

Every time I get Miss Behavin' just the way I want her I take her sailing and she gives me another idea. The projects that I'm looking at now are storage for the companion way door and tensioning for my roller furled jib.

I haven't looked that close at the 26s door, but on my 25 I found that the bloody thing sits fairly well right behind the fuel tank. it does stick up enough that the tiller drags on it just a tad however. I never use it anyway, so I'm always tempted to just leave the dang thing home ;) .

I've tried sailing without a tiller but it wasn't all that easy. :p

Ha. My tiller broke off in my hand once in 15 mph winds. The pucker factor was high

Everything in the 1st picture was moving against the current which flows along the bottom in the old channel. There are a couple marina's left on the southern end of the lake, but only one is active because of the 4 year drought that emptied it.
The lake is primarily trailer-boater habitat and most were taken out of the water. Several boat houses and docks were torn up because the owners didn't let out enough scope soon enough and they were pulled under.
Amazingly, when I took the pictures, there were powerboaters towing people on boogie-boards and jet-ski's on the water!

Ha Ha. ya… surfers go out when the storms are near. skiers hit the sloops after the big dump. heck I kayaked during a flood a time or two myself, back when I was young and dumb [er]. ;)

Got the cheek blocks today and finished up my slab reefing setup.

Went sailing this weekend. Put a reef in for the first time. Not too bad, but learned a lot such as, you need something to act as the out haul.

If the reefing line is anchored correctly in the boom, rearward of the reefing cringle, this acts as the outhaul. the anchored end provides outhaul wile the cheek-block side, which is straight down from the reef cringle, provides the downward motion.

Fabricated a sink for the galley. The original setup is close to being cut out.

Drain stem is being set in bedding compound in the bottom of the new S/S sink.

The entire set up is curing. The PVC 90° angle and the piece of flexible tubing are from the original drain system and they are just there for fitting. The piece of oak plywood the sink is sitting on will be the new galley counter.

Shakedown cruise!
The interior is still a mess, the electrical system is coming together, she has accumulated a coat of dirt form numerous trips up and down the boarding ladder, but she performed like a champ!

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear the shakedown went well.
I'd like to see more pictures of your stern rail.

This should be posted to the main forum.. The SN forum has 12 pages on this and I hope this same thing doesnt happen to this "what have you done to your Mac" thread.. If you dont have a Mac and want to comment on this, hopefully it can be moved to the main forum. This is just too far off topic even for this crazy thread.

Hope this particular post gets moved to the main forum as it is interesting.. I read a bunch of those pages. But please dont screw up this thread with pages and pages on this.
