Today with the boat in the backyard, I took out all the flooring that I had put in maybe 7 years ago. I used the hardware store fake vinyl hardwood floor looking - sticky back stuff.
When I put this in.. I thought it was real slick. After all these years, dirt had accumulated in the cracks/around the edges and in the last couple years, the flooring pieces would actually start "sliding" on warm days. Tore it all out today.. these had accumulated years of sand, and water and what else got spilled on the floor since they were hard clean.. Pretty nasty, I legally should probably get a hazardous waste permit to throw them out.
So now I have to figure something else to put on the floor. I liked the hardwood floor look but am hoping for something that can be removed to clean all the crap that ends up on a sailboat floor. Needs to be durable, dark color and removable for cleaning, not very thick as this degrades cabin height plus light weight.. I sort of like the idea of just the bare floor for cleaning/ durability/ weight but dont want to look at bight white gelcoat.
