OK here some pictures. I got my order yesterday delivered and installed the linkage today.
My outboard is a 9.9 hp Honda. As the first picture shows, the rod is strait, it did not need to be bend. The second picture shows where I attached one end to the rudder aluminium plate.
It is important to figure out the right spot where you drill, closer or further to the vertical rudder pivot post, to make sure the motor turns the full range as the rudder does but also that the motor not restrict the ruder from full turning. Closer to the pivot post give fewer movements to the rod further away more. Test the end spots in your particular case also that nothing interferes with the linkage when the motor is moved out of water.
I attached the other end of the rod on the motor's tiller base mount as the third and forth picture shows.
In the pictures is the motor's tiller flipped up and I drilled the attachment hole in the end of the tiller base. The tiller base is the fixed part where the arm is mounted to. This point seems to me a stable good place to be used. It works so well, that even when the motor is out of the water it turns freely with the rudder. No need to detach the linkage when sailing.
