Where do you mount YOUR cup holders?

Can't comment on those type but am interested in the opinions you get.
I built a Teak cup holder that mounts on the pedestal. I guess you have tiller so that wouldn't work.

i dont have the kind of cup holders that break in sunshine--was looking for wire ones but i find i donot need them--my big barge doesnt heel enough to worry about it--my ericson came with cup holders at the helm, but they were sunburned and fell apart..goood old plastic....goood luck--the kind that are in a rack at the wheel are good--rack seems to be made of something un-sunburnable......the kind ericson had were the fold down ones--they break realllly fast....

Picture shows my DIY cup holders mounted within the pedestal's grab rail on the fitting that I also can attach the cockpit table. The cup holder location is convenient for the helmsman and passengers sitting on the side lazerettes. Also they are not in the way of anybody moving around.

Also while I'm at it, also attached is a pic of a "matching" winch handle holder.

The tubing for both is 3" pvc drain pipe with the white plastic coating. I've got enough of the pipe still in my garage to make a dozen more holders. The 3" size is perfect for 12oz aluminum cans and smaller styrofoam cups; but not large enough for coffee mugs. So, if I were to do it again, I might use 4" solid white pvc pipe. And round off the edges for a more polished looked.

The rubber collar on the top of the winch handle holder is to absorb the shock of dropping the handle into it.

We use wide base cups and fill them half full. If they start sliding around we reduce sail. We don't have cup holders.

I know its pricey. I just use a large roll of duct tape laying down on the cockpit seat. fits cans and 20 ounce soda bottles.
provides a bit of sticky so it won't slide.

the tape can be useful too.

I have been using the folidng type pictured on the left in your post -- and really like them. I have one on each side of the cockpit within reach of the helm, and one mounted on a teak board attached to the stern pushpit (which used to be an OB bracket in years past). I get about 5 years use out of these cupholders and they are are bargain to replace at <$10.

My Bene had two of those wire ones when I bought it, but they quickly went the way of Davy Jones, and they weren't very functional, anyway, so I came up with my own scheme. My instrument box has two shoulders, perfect for those suction holders, but the suction isn't the best, so I put a 1 in. square piece of wood down with double-sided tape, then put a short screw through the bottom of the cup holder. Secure, holds cans, bottles, and travel cups, but not self-leveling, but that's OK, I don't sail with the rail in the water anymore, anyway. I also made two holders out of PVC and attached a black plastic rail clamp and set them on the cockpit table, clamped to the tube handle over the compass. Cheap and effective, not bad looking. Again, not self-leveling, but so don't really need it.

with not a lot of cockpit space on the 25 we always use the sail buoys from west marine.. can hang from the lifelines/rail and move around (for bottles/cans)

I have one of the tube mounted ones right on steering pedestal in close reach. I also got one of the cell phone holders also for the pedestal and it works good.

Snap It Products are the best and you can buy direct. Have mine on stern railing next to the elevated stern seats, both sides of helm. I like the ones that open up and transform from one to two holders as well. Very well made, durable, and infinitely flexible in location. I bought one of their cockpit tables from the onsite store here at HOW for a very competitive price. Made in Texas, even more better!!!

If you like the KISS method, check this out Winch wench We use them on our O26 and they work real well. They are big enough to put your brew or glass into insulated holders and then into them. When you are done, they are stowed away.

folding ones

We have a couple of the folding ones that stick on with suction cups. Our traveller runs across the middle of the cockpit so I generally stick them to the sides of the cockpit under it.

Since I don't drink beer while sailing, I don't worry about such things. If your doing a lot of tacking, no you don't use them. If you can settle into a tack for a while they hold a water just fine. In small boats like mine, and an O'day 22 they are very convenient.

even the cheapo tape from homeless depot works--lol--holds fat bottom coffee cups also--i forgot i use these in my dinette on formosa---holds a multitude of different items, depending on the day and time of day..lol...doesnt ever slip!!!!!--even works when the tape has been sunburned to uselessness-is how i learned of the cup holder capability..LOL

Home built from some leftover Starboard. Holds up to 4 cups/bottles/cans. Large enough to handle a cuzi and the 2 center holes can be used for binocs.
