I had a friend who named his boat "Stuck in Traffic" so he'd never have to lie to his wife when she asked where he was.
We met a couple of teachers in Grenada this fall who had named their boat "Field Trip", which I think is just about the best name for a cruising boat I've ever seen.

I'm half Japanese, half Italian. Went with 'Bella Kaze'. Beautiful wind.

You Cannot Sail Without...

...appreciating the magic of harnessing the wind. While we understand the science behind sailing, our traditions demand we acknowledge the influence the Gods, the Spirits, fate...and kismit have on us as we move forward with the unseen breath of nature filling our sails.

I looked for a boat for over a year. I had a name ready. Then I saw Dunlook'n. She still carries the name...and those I love most along with her.

Like Happy Potter...the sailor does not find the boat...the boat finds him.

The name...well, life has already whispered it to you.

Listen.

Years ago, there was a sailboat at the Seattle Yacht Club named "Sea Lingus". Somewhat clever, but perhaps in questionable taste...

Was the owner Irish? There is an Irish airline in Europe called "Aer Lingus." Maybe he was a pilot who liked to sail? ;)

Not going there.
A great name if your wife is named Connie and you had the right boat would be "Chris Craft Connie." Wives names as boat names are exempt from criticism. But why the Mrs. would like a namesake that is slow, beamy and displaces a lot is a mystery to me.
