:wow3:This picture is from 9 years ago but I still like it. There's a sailboat in the picture.

Yeah....my wife and I always joke about the "sailing" tourist catamarans on Maui. The vast majority of them motor everywhere they go. It appears that Sail Maui is the only company that sails a significant amount while out and about. Bottom line....there's a "sail" boat in my picture :)

When I pull the stop on our diesel, the Admiral says "Thank you." Right before that is usually this conversation. "How are we doing?" "In neutral and making 3.5 knots." "Roll out more jib and let's sail."

Powerboats run their engines at full throttle to get "There." Sailors kill their engine and are "There."

Sorry…no boat down here in Florida:(

But the Z3M I dragged down here seems happy at the beach;)

Went to Margharitaville on Fort Meyers Beach the other night for drinks and caught a beautiful sunset…

…there was a catamaran out there somewhere.

Heading north tomorrow for the holidays…Thanksgiving at home in Indiana and Christmas in Colorado before heading back to Florida at the first of January.

I'm in the process of repainting the non-skid on the deck and cabin top of Kolibri. One of the previous owners continued the non-skid to the toe rails, hatches, all deck hardware, etc so the process is slightly more involved. I've added channels along the toe rails and many other necessary areas to improve water flow to the scuppers in sloppy conditions. I also decided that this was the perfect opportunity to strip the varnish off the toe rails and apply new varnish.

After stripping.

After 5 coats of AwlSpar M3131. ~2 more coats to go then a few coats of AwlBrite will be applied once the non-skid is done.

I don't think this fellow knew when to say enough is enough. I counted 35 panels and a single wind generator. Last week this boat did make a passage from Mosquito Creek Marina to Maple Bay Marina, a distance of 42Nm across the Strait of Georgia and via Porlier Pass (max current 9+kt) with its electric motor. Sailboatmembers' y'all are in luck. This boat is now for sale as the owner ran into some health issues. As an aside if you look very closely at the 2nd photo you will notice a vane mounted on each side of the pulpit just behind the wind generator. Believe-it-or-not these are bow thrusters and the consensus is they actually work.
