The old one has a metal case. The new one plastic. Maybe that's the difference.

Ugh! Looked O.K., but mechanically no good. The latch for the battery pack isn't tight. Two actually fell out as I moved the radio! Going back. I just ordered two Standard Horizon OEM battery packs, at about $37 each. But, it will be worth it.
