As a side note, when I explained my maintenance schedule to MAYS (Mid Atlantic Yacht Services), they asked me if I really felt I needed the service as the time frame was well below the required. I responded that for reasons I can't explain that indeed I felt it needed. I have finally learned to listen to my gut feelings... Many eyebrows were raised as the above events unfolded...

For anyone that may come to Horta, I cannot recommend more highly MAYS. They are simply phenomenal! Professionals in every way. If anyone wants their contact info, please send me a PM. Id post here but I'm currently sitting at a sidewalk cafe having a lovely lunch and don't have the info with me.

Watch out for the Orca's going up the coast! Good to trust your gut!

Cruising is filled with many parts of the adventure. Last night we had an ad hoc dock party. Folks gathered, brought food, drink and musical instruments and we spent many hours singing, talking, and sharing stories. In my usual non-photographic mind set, I only captured one photo of the event. Someone sitting next to me commented, "I'm so glad I speak several languages, that way I get to understand more people." There were folks here from many parts of the globe. At least 4 different languages were being spoken at any given moment. Fantastic! All united in common interests, and all enjoying and sharing in food and music!

Getting ready to head to Lisbon. I now have two crew, both getting off on the mainland once I arrive. It's been a slow morning as both crew had to say their goodbyes last night to friends here. Not sure what time we will actually get going. It's almost 1pm right now and one of the crew just woke up a bit ago.... Hahahahaha It has been fun here!

Untying the lines can always be a challenge, especially when you have enjoyed the experience.

Prepare well. Safe travels!

Fair winds and following seas!

My favorite parts of cruises are arrivals and departures. Enjoy yours! And don't forget to take a good look back as you leave.

Wow you are leaving Hotra just at the right time.

Escaping from the Active near by Capelinhos Volcano.

But I heard you searched the Islands for a Virgin to sacrifice, without luck.

What are the new Crew's names? One should be nicknamed "Sleepy".

Jim...

Hahaha - I'd have to call her "Happy"... Although after all the goodbye partying last night sleepy does apply...

So I now have Gabriel - as before- and joining us is Greta. She has been studying and working in the Azores for the past year. She is studying marine biology.

Hoping to skirt the storms and have a quick run to Lisbon. Found a great place to stay with the boat there. A German boat was docked next to me and they had spent a fair bit of time there. Wish Schengen would disappear.... But it only seems to be getting worse....

I believe there are never legs that are uneventful. We went to turn on the autopilot as we are motoring and it decided to no longer run... So we have been hand steering the whole night. Glad we are now three instead of two... We worked on fixing it but it seems to be beyond anything simple.

Looking forward to some wind and going onto the wind vane....
