I am considering buying a 1993 shoal draft std rig c28 which I think we would have to occasionally trailer due to storms, lack of decent moorings or dockage in our area of fla. Condos have taken nearly all our available marinas, dockage has become outrageously expensive and our mooring fields are exposed and full. We are trailering a 24' hunter but want a more capable boat that could still be pulled out incase of a storm/hurricane, loss of docking rights or needs repair. Is the '93 c28 too impossible to consider such a role at 8600lb without a lift? Been shopping tandem and tri axle trailers at 5-6k$ and have a suburban capable to pull it short distances and (I think)a ramp to float the boat on the trailer at high tide with a short extension. I've seen people consider trailering such a boat on the trailer sailor BB but can't quite get this in my head. Any input on people/sailors who pull and successfully ramp launch such a large boat? Are upgrade parts available like tabernacle hinges and gin poles or will I do better to fabricate them locally if we do this at all? All input welcome. Thanks Michael Smith
