Feel free to use any ideas. Lord knows I incorporated others guys' mods into mine.
This was the first thing I did to my boat. My thought was: get the boat comfortable so we can enjoy sailing and exploring on the boat... that was 4 years ago. Once the Admiral was hooked I started adding anchors and anchoring hardware, stereo and radio, etc. Now this year I get to add a spinnaker, boom vang, deck hardware, and fix some structural stuff.
Have with it!

I already upgraded the ground tackle. I went from an 8# anchor to a 14# anchor, and increased the chain from 5ft to 10ft. The 8# anchor is now the lunch hook, and the chain will most likely be changed out for 30 ft of 1/4"BB in the future.
My big project is the electrical system.
I'm hoping the "Admiral" likes the boat. She stopped sailing with me on the beach cat years ago because she found that she couldn't just lay on the tramp and look pretty ;)

My admiral fell off the back of our beach cat after having a bit too much wine. A buddy said "I'm glad you brought her. She's entertaining."

I finally finished setting up my drifter today. Hoping to get a chance to try it out soon. :)

Fills nicely with only 2 knots of wind.

Replaced upper shroud bolt with threaded rod. Added spacers and aluminum tubing to make jumper spreaders.

Short bow sprit to hold drifter and furler away from jib and furler.

Determining the best location for the drifter tack.

Short bow sprit holds drifter forward of the jib. Several possible locations for the drifter furler.

Plenty of clearance for both anchors.

Barberhauler (small white line) locates the drifter sheets (green line) so no additional genoa tracks are required.

One year ago tomorrow since I bought the boat and yesterday I launched it for the first time.......only to slide the trailer I built under it! The existing trailer was a POS.

This is the inside of the bow looking up at the stainless backing plate for the new bow roller/forestay mount as seen below. The strap is connected to the new bow eye that was all rotted out. It seems everything I go to tighten or adjust ends up getting removed and I'm re-fiberglassing, gelcoating and removing gobs of silicon to put in butyl tape (great stuff!!)

New bow roller/forestay anchor. I have a lot more to do....the boat needs to be pimped out for us geriatrics........furler, lines aft etc! We have too many toys to play with......anyone want an airplane project?????? Thanks to all who post here.....I'm getting lots of great ideas!

What did I do to my Mac today............................

Well..... She was floated and christened at the local lake. That is the good part.
The lake was so low that I had to drive the truck off of the end of the ramp to get enough water under the keel to float her. Then the drama started...
She would go forward on the trailer, but wouldn't back off. She was stuck on the trailer....I checked the tie downs (all cast off); I checked the centerboard line (still taut and apparently fully pulled up). No ideas, so I pulled her back out of the water and found the problem. The centerboard had dropped down and was now wedged between the boat ramp and the axle and cross arm of the trailer. Some time in the past, the PO had replaced the wire rope with standard line on the centerboard and merely wrapped the line around the centerboard twice. This allowed the line to slip along the centerboard.
Needless to say, Mistress's centerboard is now ~12" shorter since I had to cut it to get it unjammed.

Lessons learned:
1. Get under the boat to visually check the board. Just because the uphaul line is taut does not mean that it is supporting the CB.
2. There is nothing to keep a loose CB from falling and jamming under the axle. A future trailer mod will be to attach some plastic composite deck boards to the center line of the trailer to keep this from happening again.
3. The CB will be repaired. It will cost a lot less than paying $550 for a new one.
4. Never...ever christen your boat with Budweiser. Neptune has a more discerning taste in his libation!

Rowland: Happy Anniversary!! Making good progress. Keep it up. I hope you did a little more than float the boat long enough to get the other trailer under her. Did you at least motor around or something?

Mistress: So sorry to hear about your centerboard and "Dreaded Previous Owner" issue. I've run across a few DPO issues of my own. Yes, these 20+ year old boats do need to be thoroughly inspected. The problem is, as a new owner one never knows quite what to look for. Now that you've learned from the experience you can look back on it as part of the adventure and know that it makes a good story.

Bought a boom vang. I've never used one before.
You'll find it very helpful when the boom is outside the cockpit. I never realized how much it helped with sail shape until I sailed a boat that didn't have one (Hobie-18).

Semper Fi.
btw. What model is your Mac-26?

Me too, on both counts. Those Selden blocks will be my new boom vang, main and jib halyards and DB line will run through the deck organizers and clutches, that over-the-top lead block so the DB line doesn't cut into my newly-repaired fiberglass, and the 2 Ronstan with soft shackle blocks will attach to my rear deck cleats to run my spinnaker sheets through (and then back to the winches)...
I do love having boat projects

Besides the low initial investment, having projects is one of the main reasons some of us buy old boats. Sure, I'd rather be sailing than working on it but when I can't sail projects allow me to still be "messing about in boats."

I believe it is a C, 1993. Or an S. Or both?

Indeed a 1993 would be both a C and an S. The "C" indicates that it is the "Classic" design (as opposed to the powersailor) and the "S" indicates the "Swing" centerboard as opposed to the "Daggerboard" which would be the "D" model.

What exactly is a daggerboard? My keel drops down when I release the cleated line inside the cabin.
