Down Wind safety

When "running" down wind you do not heel (not heal) because the force on the sails is directed forward, not to the side. If you fly a spinnaker and plan to be on a broad or beam reach then you had better keep the center board down or risk a broach. In Portland we race in classes that include a wide range of PHRF ratings. I race against Hunter 356's and Catalina 30's. My PHRF rating was set at 218 while my competition mostly have ratings in the 180 to 200 range. Since our classes are not handycapped I have no problem with raising my swing keel to keep up with the big guys. If I were in a PHRF race I would definitely have a problem with changing the underwater profile. I am interested in what other PHRF ratings H-260 have received, with or without spinnaker.
