Will, from a marketing perspective you have a challenge. The aversion of popular places is counter to finding individuals willing to finance your interest in art as an income source. Only dead artists are the ones who are financially successful in the absense of people willing to support the arts..
Perhaps you will need a gallery in a populous location willing to show and sell your creations.
JS,
I am not sure what prompted the reference to my art career came, but I appreciate your thinking about me, that way. Unfortunately for me, I am not that aggressive or motivated for financial success that I can honestly expect to achieve much more than a subsistence living in my pursuits as an artist. I would love to be wildly successful, just not that much. In my opinion, I charge a lot of money for my art but it still only works out to something a carpenter would earn on a local construction site. It is as much as I think I can justify and I marvel at the prices I see on artwork while also understanding that these artists are not making much money on their actual art. It is like a friend of my mother's once told me when I asked her how much one of her quilts would cost. She said, they cost to much to sell so she only gives them away. Since my wife and I are in the middle of changing our lives around completely, we are starting a homestead farming operation and we just closed on the house next door and are spending almost every waking moment getting it ready for listing on AirBnB. My wife has several pursuits involving gardening and painting chicken signs 20180405_094654.jpg https://www.facebook.com/earthshakingcreations/ . They will probably fly out of our house like hotcakes (hopefully).
We are trying to publish a Website but we don't have enough content yet.

Anyway, I love where I live and my goal is to survive doing what I love to do. There are lots and lots of other places I would be happy to live, but I am here and content.

Cities have their appeal and I visit them, DC and Montreal are two of my favorites, but not to live in. I've done that. If offered the opportunity to show in a more central gallery, I, of course, would. This is what I hope the Internet will do for me. So, when I get earthshakingcreations.com up and running, the SBO community will be among the first to know.

More snow at my house this morning (enough to make the ground white) ... shall we keep this thread alive as long as the snow keeps falling?:confused::confused:

We're forecasted (sp?) to get snow and ice tonight and teens windchills. All the ornamental trees and the bulbs are already flowering :cuss:

Here in Savannah GA we are forecasted to get more horse poop plopped in the street as the horse drawn carriages saunter by carrying tourists on their adventures.

This is a town enthralled with their ghosts.

Either way, we don't have to leave NJ to find some nice scenery.
New Jersey tolls say it all...free to come into the state, but it costs you to leave....

Sorry Scott, I just couldn't pass that one by. Since I live in central NY I'm relatively safe from any retaliation from NJ. :)

I have heard that there are parts of NJ that are really nice, though. I've been to Newark...

My wife hears "Georgia" and she lights up. She went on a business trip there where they provided a traditional fox hunt. She was only an observer, but they explained the hunt, the significance of the dress code etc. She said it was fascinating. I think if the stars aligned favorably, she would like to retire there. We would just need to find a home near a good sailing area.

I agree with JS. It is quite pleasant here in Savannah made all the more so knowing the weekend forecast for Central NY.

Time to get another ::beer:: and sit on the porch looking at green leaves and listening to birds sing.

I agree with you Scott, as far as I care they can blow the bridges and tunnels to the crummy apple.
True that. Friends from out of state ask me how often I go to The City? Never. I avoid going West of Cutchogue.

Justin this is our first time visiting this area. Having fun. The locals have been very friendly. If I get any lip I just say “You know I know @Kermit !” The reaction has been oh. How can I help you.

JS, if you make the rest of us green with envy, maybe we could be mistaken for Kermit and get the "Royal treatment"
:worship:

Or not.

Glad you're having fun and the weather is good down there:liar:.

I envy you in Savannah right now, it's a unique city.

(photo taken just now):Enormous fat snow flakes are falling outside my window on the coast of Maine. Pfft,...Silly really. Shoots of flowers have already burst out of the ground, plump buds are on the Lilacs. Give it up winter, you're a joke. The snow shovel is history,....

And a plug for NYC. I could never live in a bustling city, but I'll always have a soft spot for the Big Apple. :)

Counting the days before heading back home to Fl. and do some sailing and nice sunny warm weather,it is very cold here for sure.
10 years of living in Fl. has made me a whimp with cold weather,
can’t believe I was a skier and loved to go snow shoeing and cross country skiing

@dlochner we have enjoyed the trolley’s that circle the city. We walked the Bonaventure Cemetery checking out the family Johnny Mercer plot. Site of the grave (voodoo) ceremony in the movie “Midnight in The Garden of Good and Evil”. A pleasant walk. We have eaten at a number of places all good but none exceptional. The Pink House Chicken and the Pork Tenderloin has been about the best eats.We have enjoyed Christophers on Liberty (downstairs from our apartment) has received the vote to eat there again.
This is a town of churches and squares. The streets all run NS or EW so navigating about is pretty easy. We took a ride on the free river ferry’s just for fun. Visited the Prohibition Museum (a tourist trap but fun).
It has been an interesting adventure.
Good luck. Next couple of days are set aside for golf in Pawley Island SC.

You didn't eat at Paula Dean's restaurant? Ladies dragging their spouses were lined up astound the corner for it, when I was there. We didn't easy there, low tolerance for lines.
I've loosened up on that some, low tolerance for denying my wife what she wants. ;)
