The core editors can probably all do the same basic stuff. Edit the length of a clip, speed up, slow down and maybe zoom in and out.
Where you get into the more advanced stuff is transitions and generators. Have a look at FXFactory. These are plug ins for fcpx. You get the idea of what kind of things are out there.
It’s like using Word. It edits. You add fonts and plugins to bring in (I dunno) excel sheets.
One of the Mavic shots has rain added. A lot of the shots have bokeh added - that’s the little light balls that look like lens leaking. If you didn’t know they were added, they’re so subtle you’d see them but they’d never register as added.
There was ant a single clip in that video that hasn’t been touched in some way, some subtle, some not.
Fcpx is so capable I know I’ll never know it all.

Thanks Larry for the link about the skids for the pro. Hopefully something like that will be available for the mavic air soon. I have seen a good youtube on over water drone flying by tomstechtime.com that has a link to purchase a small module that attachs to the drone and releases a small float if immersed. With dji insurance, quad can be replaced.
Question for experienced pilots, why not hang a low air resistance lanyard off the drone bottom and grab the lanyard after flying the drone within reach?

For me it's about grabbing the body which you have to do at some point. The props are right there and one wrong move has you looking like Jerry Garcia, possibly hours from help. Not worth the risk.

'Cause the damned thing will swing into your legs/arms/torso whilst the rotors are still spinning?

Will. You have control. Turn the motors off when in the net.

Now look what ya made me go and do. ;)
As soon as I become less visually impaired, from my morning eye exam, I'll see if I can fly it well enough to get some video of my rooftop ;)

Couldn't resist a short flight in my back yard, even though I live in a heavily wooded area. only clipped one tree branch and took out one prop when I got too close to a garden fence. ;) these little buggers are FAST. I'm gonna need better muscle memory on the controls, or a lot bigger play area ;)

Bigger play area... nice open field... keep it in view. Don’t fly backwards at a distance. Practice.

This next option is by no means as versatile as a drone, for getting those spectacular elevated videos, and will not give you fly by views of your own boat, but it is simple and easy to use. I fabricated and installed a quick release mast cam bracket to hold the camera for elevated videos of other sailboats. The camera is pointed in any direction (including down) before hoisted and locked into place. The following video contains numerous elevated shots from my mast. The one exception is a fly over of my boat taken by Mariachis’ Mavic.

Great video! How did you add the titles? Do you have a pic of how you stablized the camera aloft and what kind of camera did you use? Nice music.
Btw, I have never seen the gizmo that pivots off the bow into the water....sonar sub finder?
Thanks

Thank you njlarry for your kind words and interest. To edit my videos I use Final Cut Pro which is loaded with fancy features like the 3D rotating title you saw. The background music is Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield and the camera is a Garmin VIRB which is the same as a GoPro. I also use a small Kodak when I don’t need the wide angle shots.
Below are two photos of the mast cam bracket in place on the mast. The camera bracket is hoisted by a line and slides into a tapered slot that holds it and the camera firmly against the mast. The gizmo you saw is my attempt at reducing lee helm while I fly my Code 0. My Hunter 25 is shallow drafted and suffers a bit from lee helm when I fly both head sails. This lifting front keel reduces this effect and allows me to point higher and helps balance the helm. This short video I made of the build has been shared on SBO on a previous post.

Y'd think that with the 9 days of summer that we get up here, we'd spend less time on toys and more time on sailing. But then what would we spend the non sailing days doing - I mean there's only so much time to drinking beer. :)

Wow! A man of many talents including advanced naval architecture and professional video production. I am truly impressed.
Alas, my missed spent youth.
There should be a market for your bow keel.
