The PO of my boat used it quite a bit. I've learned that it has some great benefits. It doesnt dry or crack even after 10+ years in the sun. He covered some mast wiring (cabin to mast). It protected it from mechanical abrasion and whatnot but the clear tape let UV through. I looked it up and they make tape in multiple colors along with UV inhibitors.I got some clear silicone tape from the hardware store but haven't tried it yet. Anyone use something like this?

There's also self amalgamating electrical tape. Interesting stuff. You can form it into lots of different shapes if I remember correctly.
From what I understand sailtape is usually white and helps block UV. Both tapes seem to run $10-20 per roll
