Reefing line being cut near gooseneck

I have replaced the 2nd reefing line twice on my Hunter 50 Tall Rig with single line reefing. The first reefing line has not had any issues. The line seams to be being cut where it exits the small hole on the goose neck. After leaving the goose neck the line goes to the reek tack clew as per diagram attached. Both reefing lines are the same size and the holes are similar. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a cure?
It is surprising that there is no block at this point but merely a rounded relief at the top of the hole.

Don't run it through the goose neck. Attach a cheek block to the mast so the line goes from boom to reef cringle, back down through cheek block before going to deck. BTW that diagram only show one reef line. The other two are topping lift and outhaul.

I think Joe has a good point. But if you want to try something else...
Yale MaxiJacket with reduce wear about 4-8 times based on testing. I know it sounds impossible, it doesn't look like anything more than water based varnish, but it really works. I use it on furling lines. It's amazing. [use clear, the other colors can transfer]
