Torque is defined as:
= r x F; in that order it would be ft-lb, but it would have to have the same meaning (quantity) if reversed to read lb-ft.
I think KG wrote this in vector notation :), where he shows the cross product...r cross F, and resultant T is found by right hand rule...Fxr gives opposite direction for the torque vector... I was awake one day in physics class, about 40 years ago.

Sand and new bottom paint and changed 2 thru hulls and replaced all the backing plates.
Seadaddler,
I guess the water pump mounted behind the thru hulls is for the shower sump? Did you take the original shower sump box out?
Were the backing plates difficult to remove and replace? Did you just remove the plates and clean around and leave the thru hull in place for the 4 you did not replace?
Your keel and bottom work looks very good, unfortunately I need to do the same on my 356.

I think the 36 came with the diaphragm pump you see and its connected straight to the shower pan drain...no sump, then to an overboard discharge like a bilge line. That pump can run dry for hours and still work fine. I have "testing" to prove it...ha.
Also consider upgrading the water strainers if you have them. The h36 came with plastic strainers. I only have three seacocks, sink drain, engine and AC. In addition to those three, I guess seadadler has saltwater head, generator. But I cant figure what the sixth one would be.

I'm a little surprised my keel is slightly different than yours. I mistakenly thought major features like that didn't change within the years the model was built. Hmmm

Nick,
I have a total of 8 thru hulls with 6 right in front of the companion way steps. On port side the generator, head pickup and head sink discharge. On starboard the engine, A/C pickup and galley discharge. The sump box has the shower discharge and I want to plumb the A/C drip pan to it. In the bow is a wash down raw water pickup and in the stern the macerator discharge.
The 3 strainers could be beefier, but they do the job. Past year had eel grass clog up engine and generator strainers so I check them often.

Aww, come on Kermie! Don't get frustrated. Not to pile it on or anything but while rebuilding the boat I also re-read all the 737 manuals and am learning Japanese (for the new job), and I built 3 model airplanes. :)

You sir are an over achiever! You make the rest of us sailors look bad. Cease and desist sir!

No sump box was used in 2007 on my H-36 and most of the thru hulls were not needed to reseal but some when removing nut did move but if you have some one outside use tool to hold the bottom part from moving but mine all needed the use tool to hold from turning and one even needed to be cut out and replaced, they will want to turn if you try removing the nut off and replace backing plates and the plates remove very easy.

Having thought about this I conclude that reversing the cross-product notation to read "lb-ft" would have no meaning here, or possibly elsewhere, b/c the application of torque for most practical purposes is uni-directional; i.e., toward tightening. No one would care much about the torque required to back-out a bolt except, perhaps, when breaking it free initially. It reminds me of division by zero. (But a marine-application exception might be a pair counter-rotation outboard engines to balance torque effects? Even so, both props would be driving forward, or in the same direction.)
