Like I said to the other guy, I know what I said. You would have had to read all of my comments to not have missed the point, which I repeated numerous times.
Your other comments??? Gee, gone. I guess the moderator deleted them. I wonder why.

Nope, still there.
Hilarious.
I'm not going to run around trying to copy and paste. Too much trouble on iphone.
I'll just concede that my writing does not always present a well articulated view. Even though it seems clear to me. I'll try to use better thought structure in the future.
Truce.

I think that people should be careful about how they write and also don't believe the first thing that comes to mind when they read. Case in point, this is how the OP begins:
Fairly close call on LI Sound yesterday. I was pleasure sailing. My tack (starboard) took me through a racing area...
My first reaction was, "That was a douchy move. He should have switched tacks or jibed to avoid the racing area." My next thought was, "Unless he had been somehow forced to stay on his present course; there's not enough info to make a judgement." My third thought was, "Well, just sit back and enjoy the ensuing bickering." My fourth thought was, "Don't old men ever get tired of bickering? And why in hell do I read it?" And that, old bickering dudes, illustrates how boring my job is right now. TGIF!

Its illegal to have coitus on Sunday in Connecticut....so I guess you just have to go sailing instead.

Ya know, sometimes we forget we're only moving at 5 or 6 knots or so. That's not much faster than grandpa with his tennis ball padded walker.

Mark roundings can seem to be somewhat faster. Like twice that speed.
Why? Folks coming and folks going.

Gosh.

Oh, well, it's only 6 knots.

Nonsense.

So it's kinda like two old farts colliding in the nursing home corridor. A blazing 12 knots at max.
lol

Except that the old farts typically weigh less than 5 or 6 tons.

Ever run into anybody while walking down the street or in a supermarket? While it is eminently survivable, sometimes it just ain't pretty. :)

I DO like the old farts part, though. :):):)

I got hit at anchor last November. I was stationary, he was moving at less than six knots.

It was NOT pretty.

5 knot T-bone; Sonar vs Sonar. Sounded like a train wreck. Almost sank her; they needed to keep crew on starboard the whole way home to keep the hole above the water line.
