OK so my Columbia 28 blew some sort of power thingy. I believe that to be the technical term for what has happened. So this puts me in a predicament. Its Sept. and I need to get this fixed before it starts raining.
So the shore power chord's insulation had come undone in the middle of the chord and got wet. Now there is no power. At the end plugging into the boat I noticed that part of the plug itself was charred. I replaced that today and still no power. By the way, did a quick fix on the cable itself until I replace it which will be soon. Now It appears that the socket in the boat also needs to be changed. There is no ground for starters.
I was wondering, based upon what I've told you which so far is all I know, can anyone tell me what steps I should be doing to make sure I don't get myself killed and how much money I should expect to spend. I don't have a lot of money so I need to do this myself.
Also one more thing. Why is the outlet on the boat exactly the same configuration you would see in your house? Should I change that? Any advice welcome.
Oh and here are a couple pics of before and after with the cabinets inside...
