Alright folks I need your opinion on the best way to handle a situation.
There is boat in the slip next to me, it is a ~20ft cuddy cabin fishing boat with a 150 horse outboard on the back of it. You would think that a boat of this size and power would be pretty easy to dock, appearantly not!
Well this couple regularly (1 to 2 times per week) head out for a sunset booze cruise and when they return they are typically intoxicated to the point that walking seems to be a very difficult task. When they dock, they use my boat and the boat on the other side of them as bumpers while tieing up in their slip. Afterwards, they do not offer any appology or even acknowledging their actions in any way. I have offered before to give them a hand docking but they were pretty insistant that they did not need any help. No damage to my boat or their other neighbor as of yet, but I would like to handle this matter before there is any damage.
My question to you all is what would be your opinion on the best way to handle this?
1. Confront them while they are sober (prior to their boating excursion) and ask that they use a little more common sense and try to remain sober while out boating for their own safety as well as the safety of other people and their property.
2. Attempt to confront them when they return from their trips while they are playing boat slip pinball and risk a drunken bar room brawl type situation there on the dock.
3. Bypass the pickled pair and go directly to the marina owner and explain the situation to him and ask that he take some kind of corrective action.
4. Inform the local marine police of this regular dangerous/illegal activity, or even the municipal police of it since once they complete their docking exercises, they stumble to their car and head out onto the streets.
Any helpful advice you have on this situation would be greatly appreciated.
